Just saw Cincinnati declined a bid. Too lazy to look, but it got me thinking.. how often does this happen?

Maybe just me, seems like you’re robbing your guys of some extra practices/game time? Perhaps I’m looking too into it. Lol

It’s not like it’s a bowl game where you get a month of extra practice. I’d guess last year, we got two additional practices. I don’t see any benefit to it. If you’re a mid major or an up and coming program looking to build, it’s fine. If you are a P5 team that had a terrible year and far underperformed expectations, and 75 percent of your roster is unlikely to return, how does it help? We came out with our season on the line against OSU and played with little life or intensity. I’m sure it would be even worse playing some random team in a half empty gym.

Doubt we would host but it would be embarrassing to have a few hundred fans at the game

I would put it to a team vote. And I suspect they would opt to play.

And if they didn't it would be a huge indicator of why we can't close games and are 12-24 in conference the last two years.

It would tell me the players don't have a passion and true love for the game and will do whatever it takes to keep playing and win.

I see no point in playing, unless OU and or the players make some money

Players should ABSOLUTELY want to play and I’d say it’s totally weak sauce if they don’t. Do you want to continue playing D1 basketball against decent to good teams, travel with your friends/teammates, maybe earn a trip to NYC or not?

As a FAN, I would have little to no interest in continuing to watch this team and I don’t see it having much benefit to the program, but I’d find it pretty telling if they got invited and the players didn’t want to continue.

What about the negative…?

A P5, traditionally a strong team, from the best conference, getting beat by a non P5 school…

Ya we’ve had a crappy year by our standards but imagine getting beat by a lesser school…

1-2-3...cancun!

coaching staff's time will be much better spent scouting the portal. and i believe they will get it done.

Players didn't want to play according to UNC posters/insiders. Explains their season, I guess.

I know a lot of people don’t want us to even play in the NIT if we got in, but what do we think the odds are of being selected? A Couple of these teams turning it down would be the only hope I would think.

Chokie state will be the #1 overall NIT seed. I figure if 1 or 2 more teams say no, then ou will be in. The only way for ou to redeem themselves for being a 4th alternate to the NIT would be to win the sumb1tch.

Ehh, no interest in seeing OU in the NIT.

Ugandan and Owen are really the only two guys likely to figure into next season, and I don’t want them playing next to guys that have checked out. Sucks for T. Groves, but that is how I feel. Coaches need to start digging in the portal and having conversations. Not coaching up a bunch of guys that won’t be in Norman next season.

I’d rather play than not play. But teams declining bids makes me think the NIT won’t last a lot longer (at least as an NCAA sponsored and paid for event).
