hint OU is not very miserable

little brother on the other hand ..

Oklahoma State used to be one of the most consistently good teams in the Big 8/Big 12 in the 1990s and early 2000s, making the tournament 12 times from 1991 to 2005, including Final Fours in 1995 and 2004. But the Cowboys haven't won a conference title or advanced to the Sweet 16 since 2005, haven't won a tourney game since 2009 and look like they're going to miss the Big Dance for a third straight season.

So it sounds like this article and index are based on recent success and berths.

My misery index in the tourney goes back to the fact we have the most wins in the NCAA tournament of any team without winning a championship. That hurts.

I know it wouldn't be a popular thought on TOS, but I would rather win one in basketball than football anyday.

You're not alone. There are a few of us out there. I'll never forget scalpers combing through our section as Indiana ran out the clock in 2002.

I'm a little different, I know. I'm still not over Redman giving up the homer to JD Drew.

Yep, I still have PTSD about 1988. There I was a high school kid, looking over that bracket thinking there was no team on the sheet of paper that could hang with that group. Every time I see Danny Manning it gives me cold body shivers. hahaha.

I def would like to see b-ball win one..fball as well... but it’d be nice for b-ball.

Gymn, softball, golf.. all awesome but not the same.

We've won it in gymnastics and softball. Basketball is just special because of March Madness also.

I live here...KC, I’d go play at the park with my OU shirt on...only white guy, dudes called me Seiger... lol.

I remember the fireworks, pots/pans...outside. Thank God I didn’t have a cell phone or social media...🤮

Haha, I had my hair cut exactly like Seiger's and I was a three-point shooter in high school so my teammates called me Dave all the time :ez-roll:

I’d love to see a “misery index” for posters on this board! I wonder who would make the top 5??

And Redman had pitched a gem before that homer.

I've posted this on the board a number of times, but I'll never be a completely happy/satisfied OU fan unless OU wins a title in men's hoops. The '88 title game still stings as was said above because OU truly had the best team in the land that year IMO.

I was watching that game with Mark Price's brother-in-law at my home in Saratoga Springs, NY. We were both in the navy working at the D1G nuclear plant in Balston Spa. Game cost me $20 and a broccoli pizza.

I will also never forgive mizzou for the unnecessary cheap shot in Quannas in the 2002 elite 8. We were the best team in that final four at 100%

They did the same thing in Houston in 2016. I was still in shock over the second half to care. Glad we didn't sell tickets and came back Monday night as that finish, wow... also glad I wasn't a TarHeel.

Nothing like the sting of 1988. The most painful sporting experience I've ever had. Thought that one was ours and should have been. Sieger was about the only bright spot that night. Rickey Grace couldn't hit crap, Ed Hightower's BS foul on Stacey at the end... still hurts. Lol.

Yep, my misery index is still high. Would give a left... or maybe both (haha), for a 'ship.

Ironically, I ended up playing ball with Archie Marshall a couple of years later. We played in a couple of leagues together and would go for a run and workout as he was trying to come back to play professionally. Knees were never the same. Good dude.

Quannas hurt his ankle in a practice in Atlanta.

Grace's play is what cost OU the game.

The overachieving play of several KU role players is what did us in. In that sense, the game was a fluke. Danny Manning was terrific, but he didn't do anything he hadn't done in the losses to us that season. It was the other guys who for one game played over their heads that did us in (and a couple of questionable late calls).
