I'm not a big hawkins guy, it's really more of an indictment of mateer.
I don't think mateer has shown a whole lot better. He likely wins just on experience right now, but hes overall prolly better at taking care of the ball at this point in both of their careers and is just overall more stable
A case could be made that hawkins might be better (or has a higher ceiling) but i won't be making that case on what I've seen so far from him

My thoughts too. OU has the formula so I don’t think benching Mateer is good for the locker room. But I would like to see some creativity to utilize Hawkins’ strengths. I think the offense needs some juice. Maybe he gets it going.

Hawk should never take another snap at quarterback. A good offensive staff might be able to find a way to use him in the running game, but not at quarterback. We apparently only have one healthy running back who is willing to play. I’d have more confidence in Hawk as a runner than Kanek.

To be clear, the difference between Mateer and Baker is MASSIVE. 20 points is huge. And that's the same gap between Arnold last year and Mateer this year.

You’re the one that wanted to play the data game. I was just comparing the tendencies of both qbs and how they’re similar. We should have never had this time wasting conversation.
Yes, I wanted to play the data game, but you aren't providing any.
I've got everything on my side in terms of data. QBR is the most validated metric we have for QB play and correlates better with MVP and Heismans than any other metric. EPA is the best metric to estimate an impact per play compared to what is expected in that situation, with other advanced stats like SP+ factoring level of competition. I've got our overall record. I've got our red zone scoring percentage.
And you combat that with the fact that Arnold doesn't throw many interceptions while averaging 2.9 yards per attempt? And then say you have all the data? If you think that's true, then I guess we are wasting our time.
