Speed, endurance, and some hops. Nice combination!

I'm curious if Zander is going to be a 4 or a 5 at OU.

I hope a 4. From reading her bio's and her athleticism, I think she would be a natural at the 4. If she handles the ball as well as some have said, she could spell some at the 3 too. I would much rather have her as a force for rebounding though than use her as a big guard. Looking at those broad swimming shoulders of hers, I can see her helping on the block with Nicole.

Does anyone know if Kaylon Williams is on the Midwest City Track & Field Team? Midwest City's Track team has a player named Williams that is currently in 1st. place in the 6A Shot standings with a distance of 42' 7" and 6th. place in Disc with a 123' 7" distance.

The future Sooners that will join the team for next season have good potential. All 4 players were selected to their states All-Star teams and DaShawn Harden and Katerine Zander's All-Star teams have already won their games. Kaylon Williams and Sharane Cmpbell will be playing in their All-Star games in June. Here's a recap of the players we have coming in next season - http://www.soonertimesbb.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=12644&forum_id=3

As an old track and field guy, I can assure that the 1600 meter race is anything but a dash. 400 meters and under are considered to be sprints, everything longer is a run.

1600 meters is also known as the metric mile, although it's actually about 30 feet short of a true mile.

The term the UIL used was a 1600 meter run, so I'll change the wording. The small high school I went too had no Track & Field, it still doesn't. I was just trying to keep everyone informed on our future Sooners as best I can.

You do a great job. I really had no intent to be nitpicky about your wording, but I got an image of how utterly destroyed I felt after finishing my first and only competitive mile run in high school. It's a common mistake of sprinters to treat the mile a bit like it's just a longer sprint, and it's pretty common for them to "die" after about three laps on the track. So did I, so badly that I wondered if I wasn't actually dead (or at least dying) after finally finishing that race.

Kamy's scores form today's Regional Preliminaries:

400 yard dash 1:00.20

1600 yard run 5:34.00

4X400 meter relay 5:34.00

High Jump 4-08.00

Long Jump 15-11.75

Got word that Kamy is the Regional Champion in the 1600 meters for the third straight year. She'll be competing for her 3rd State Championship on May 14th. Also found out she dropped out of the 400 meters, high jump and long jump to concentrate on the mile.
