Future Sooners

One year (cant remember which) under SWwitzer we beat texass 26 or 27 - 0 and Nebraska 26 or 27 - 0. Those two played each other in the Cotton Bowl and Switzer proudly reminded everyone that OU 53, Cotton Bowl 0. I think in 1975 the majority of the OU defensive players were drafted into the pros. Offense gets the headlines but defense wins the games in both mens' and womens' games.

I noticed where Lon Kruger stated he wants to recruit 'athletic' players. It looks to me like Sherri is doing the exact same thing. She has had some good athletes over the years but I don't know that I have ever seen her go after this many really good athletes in one year. When you look at players like Harden, Laney, Inga, Little, Smith, Cole, etc, it is obvious she is going after guys to compete with the great athletes in the league. It will be interesting to see who else commits.

Kamy Cole's mom Kaye let me know this past week that Kamy was still getting scholarship offers "but, she is very adamant in her comittment to OU. She gets asked a lot", "What If something better comes along, Kamy? Her answer is, there's nothing better than OU!"

This is from Maddie that she posted on a blog:

God, God, family, friends, and basketball are my life. I will be playing basketball at the University of Oklahoma. I am very thankful for the life i live and live each day to glorify my father in heaven. I am working each day to fully utilize the gifts and talents that i have been blessed with, to maximize the platform given to me by God. Only He knows what He has planned for me but i will make sure to do everything possible to accomplish all that he has intended for me. No one will get in the way of my dreams. I WILL MAKE IT.

Wow!! I love how Sherri finds not only the top players but she is always bringing in great people to represent Oklahoma!

Kamy wins! Kamy wins! Kamy wins! Just watched the Texas Track & Field Championships and Kamy Cole won the Gold in the 1600 meter run for the 3rd. season in a row. Kamy was well back of the leader in the 3rd. place position and kicked in her high gear in the final stretch to over take the leader posting a winning time of 5:12.37.:clap:clap:clap

That's great...thanks for posting!

Congrats to Kamy. I know how difficult it is to win one state championship in any sport. But to win three in a row in track is an incredible accomplishment. Just awesome. :clap

She has a great kick to finish off those runs.

Some one had posted last year a video of her 1600 meter championship, and I was impressed with her kick in the last 200 meters of that race. She was in third or fourth and blew past the runners with a great kick. What an amazing competitor.
