GAME 33 - OKLAHOMA (20-12) vs KENTUCKY (21-10) 8:30pm CST on SEC NETWORK

But you have an extra player by not guarding the inbounder. Why not double Oweh around the screens and deny him the pass, or at least make it harder.
I am sure we could have done it better. They might have surprised us with the play. I dunno. But we still had opportunities to cut him off and block his shot and did not. You can’t foul, you have to pay attention to Brea, and they have other good players. Someone just had to make a play somewhere but they did not and Oweh made another great play.

Then don’t say quit blaming the coaches for piss poor decisions.

Ya the team is playing better… but this staff also let go 2 starters that are doing well, 1 kicked our ass twice.

We’ll see how he does next year. If he can get to the tournament with 5 new starters and 8 total new guys then I’ll change my mind.

Blame the players as well but that was a horrible def “play” COACHES designed.
This staff couldn’t afford Oweh. Los needed a change of scenery.

The design was fine. Watching it back, the execution - by two super seniors - was horrible.

So let’s go back two weeks. After we lost to UK, Moser said he didn’t call timeout to set up our last possession because UK had been doubling Fears on inbound plays and he didn’t want to give them a chance to set their D to do that. I actually didn’t disagree with him. So … you’d think that maybe he would realize that tonight, maybe, just maybe, WE should deny their guy the ball. Not only do we not deny by putting two guys on him on the pass, we obviously designed the defense to LET HIM CATCH THE PASS without any pressure, and then hope we could keep him from getting where he wanted even with a full head of steam.

Look, props to him for the comeback, and keeping the team in it when it looked like it was over. But the fact remains, whenever a game comes down to one play, be it on offense or defense, it’s terrifying because he just never comes up with a plan that puts his players in the best position to succeed.
It doesn’t help that we NEVER have the best players in those situations.

Moser shifted the entire defense to Oweh on the final play, and we still let him get to the basket.

90% here were off the Moser train, myself included, but I can appreciate that we’re playing our best at the right time.

There was that video compilation floating around on twitter a couple of weeks ago of all the absolute back-breaking shots made against us in the Porter era. This might have been the very worst.

I don’t want to entirely blame Porter - I really don’t - but our aggressive, pressing defense is what got us back into the game in the last 90 seconds! And he changed it up! WHY????

that last 90 seconds was unbelievable. If we stop Oweh, it would’ve lived in sooner magic lore forever. But as it stands…. I would’ve rather have lost by 10 than that.

We willingly let their best player catch the ball and do the thing he does best that he also literally did the last match up for a win.... idk how else to explain how obviously wrong that scenario is and it happens 2x

You can’t risk a foul up one, so the defense has to lay off some.

The killer was letting him get to his right. Turn him left, and he probably doesn’t score.

Turn him left, or make him do anything other than get straight downhill. We never forced him to change directions. He want right by design and then just beat us down the sideline. And this is a guy who isn’t exactly tight with his handle.

I agree with this, but didn't he beat us to the left in Norman?? I think some of it we aren't giving enough credit to Oweh. He has a clutch gene we didn't see in Norman. That last play reminded me of Kobe ripping out the hearts of so many teams with last second impossible shots like that. And no, I'm not comparing Oweh with my guy Kobe.
