Game 7- (BFA) OKLAHOMA (6-0) vs. LOUISVILLE (5-1) CHAMPIONSHIP 4:30pm CST on ESPN

Bill Walton always said that nothing was less important than the score at halftime. I think the only thing I’d put ahead of that would be the polls, especially in Nov and Dec. I’d rather have good NET/Kenpom/Evan Miya/Bart Torvik numbers any day. Pollls mean nothing. I know some of you think it might help with recruits, but do you think any recruits care or remember that we were a top 10 team for a hot minute last season? There are probably 40 teams or so that will be ranked at some point in any given season. It has no impact on making the tournament and is all forgotten very quickly. Win games and the stuff that matters will take care of itself. But for people who care about it, I think there is a decent chance the winner today sneaks in because it’s a high profile tournament.
Bill Walton was also an idiot with the stuff he said (rip). If I’m up 48-19 at half I like my chances.

After we win (I hope) I hope we don’t get ranked. That is, until we start winning a lot of our conference games In January/February.

Sure, one of the smartest and best players in history was an idiot.
Did you ever listen to a broadcast? My example showed why that quote means nothing. I also said the stuff he said was idiotic. There are great, intelligent players that don’t do well in other aspects of the game.

He was prob high most of the time …lol

The key today is limiting turnovers to the low teens or below, because Louisville feeds off them.

If we keep it there, I think we have a great shot.

OT in game before us. Will be a while before we tip.

Listened to almost all his games and if you could get past the jokes that a lot of people didn’t like, he was one of the most insightful analysts around. I’ve heard tons of coaches and broadcasters say he had one of the best basketball minds they’ve ever encountered. He had original insights and didn’t just talk about the same things most guys do.

But in any event, my point about polls remains. Might be a fun ego boost but I promise you no one remembers it after a few weeks.

Meanwhile, we aren’t getting any help from Arizona or Providence. We need those wins to matter more than Iowa and USC last year. I hope the Cats can pull this out.

I honestly like this year's Louisville team.

Smith can shoot the damn ball. Have to know where he is every second they're on offense. He's going to stress Elvis, Miles, Goodine, Fears, whoever ends up matching up with him.

Hepburn has played great to start the year. Tough PG matchup for Fears, others.

Waterman looks like Vanilla Ice out there on the court but don't let him get hot from deep.

Pryor is their jack-of-all-trades. Plays down low, rim runner, shoots threes, provides energy.

Hadley is a big guard/forward...he can do a little bit of everything as well. He'll get the assignment of staying with Jalon, I assume.

Edwards hasn't been as good as expected thus far but he's capable of lighting up the scoreboard on any given night.

Scott is their other main big...he's okay. Dunker, rim runner, decent defense. Can't shoot FTs.

That said, LFG Oklahoma.....Louisville is beatable. Get the W.

They also are more battle tested than we are. Played Tennessee and Indiana. Their coach was just talking about scheduling that Tennessee game to test and expose themselves early. They also have a couple more tough games coming up after this tournament. We are going to need to take care of the ball very well to have a chance.

2-0 Louisville. We need a big effort from our bigs today.
