I for one would like to see :lon try and find a transfer big that could play right away as a 4/5. Specifically a guy with some back to the basket post ability and a wide body that can body up defensively against other bigs.

Is that too much to ask? :D

Would be a great use of that last 'ship in my opinion.

I don't disagree. We could definitely use a wide-bodied big.

My question is, if you get such a player, who do you sit? We already have a lot of bodies for the 4/5 spots next year in Lattin, Buford, Manyang, Freeman, and Doolittle. If you add another one that is going to play, that means two of the names above aren't going to play much at all.

JUST SPECULATION, but if Manyang doesn't return, that makes this a moot point, and I definitely think we have room for somebody at that point.

I think they will explore that avenue but back to the basket scorers are hard to find.

I couldn't agree more. Size (height) is not a problem. We've got that covered and then some. What we don't have is a big body, blue collar guy with a big butt who can mix it up down low and give us the rebounding and toughness that will be sorely missing with Spangler no longer around. If he can score that would be a bonus.

I'm hoping Buford will develop into the type of player who can bring some of those attributes to the table by next season. Some seem to think Doolittle might have that potential as well. I'm just not sure we can count on them at this point?

Like you, I would rather use that last ship on a graduate transfer with the bulk and size to fill a void that could cost us dearly if no one we know about now is able to fill that need.

I tend to disagree. Next year is a rebuilding year. I'd rather get McNease, Freeman and Buford plenty of time on the court to develop than use those minutes on a guy who won't be around in the next few years. Just like we could all see years ago that 2016 was going to set up really well for us, the same will be true in 2018 and 2019. Next year is the year we lay the foundation for those teams.

Not a rebuild, its a reload.

Programs like OU dont miss the tourney and rebuild.

yes they do. all the time. please stop saying crap like that. it minimizes the accomplishments our program has made.

Who would you say are comparable programs to OU, when we don't have Capel as our coach?

If we're truly in a second tier below the blue bloods, we're absolutely in a group of teams that rarely miss the tourney.

Disagree, I don't want our accomplishments to have a great 2-3 year run followed by 1-2 down years where we miss the tourney. With the program going the way things are I would say next year the NIT is a bit of a disappointment.

geez ... the ball is still warm and some are already setting up their "bar of disappointment" for next season. How about we put that team on the floor first and THEN figure it out?

With Kruger at the helm & the amount of talent (and attitudes) on the roster my "bar of disappointment" is making the tourney.

Every program not named Duke, KU and Michigan St. misses the tourney occassionally. Lon will keep us in the tournament almost every year, but don't be shocked if we miss the year after losing a combined 300 starts and 3 1,000 point scorers.

We are relying on a lot of guys to make HUGE jumps. That may happen, but it may not. We certainly are set up to just get better every year for the next 2 or 3. Again, we will have 3 freshmen and 5 sophomores and a new JUCO kid combining to play a ton of minutes for us.

Still should make the tourney. Were not a Texas tech or ksu level team.

Woodard has a ton of experience and his talented. Lattin is very experienced now. James got a taste and looks ready as he stepped up big in March. Buford, mcneace, and AK got some time as did Grandstaff.

That's enough talent right there to make the tourney imo. We should and we will imo

No no minimizes nothing...

We will make the tournament. Reloading is the term. Rebuild is tear it down and start over, that isn't happening.

I believe both will finish higher than OU next year.

how much conviction do you have with that prediction? I'd put some coin on Ou finishing ahead of both again.
