I'm rooting for Butler. No good reason to root for any conference teams to succeed in the tourney. Plus Butler reminds me a lot of some of the Kelvin Sampson OU teams.
OU makes $200k for every Baylor or Kansas State win at this point. If both make it to the Final game, it would be worth another $1.2 million for OU athletics. That would be an incentive to root for the conference.
Although I will admit that I'm hypocritical about this. I always root for the conference except UT and I also didn't lose any sleep over the Kansas loss. But Kansas bowing out early did cost each team in the big12 lots of money.
All the more reason to not like UT or Kansas. They have elitist attitudes and they cost the rest of us money in the process by underachieving.
BigXII winning is good for everyone. Conference recognition is always good in recruiting. Just look at football recruiting. How many kids do you see that say "I want to play in the SEC"? A lot if you follow it closely. They don't all go to UF or Bama. It's the reputation of the SEC in football that helps the other teams there recruit.
Conference pride only exists in your own mind. Bottom line is, you like the conference that you are in. I'm a Big 12 guy. No matter what the Big East, ACC or SEC does, I'll be a Big 12 guy. That being said, to people who are SEC, Big East or ACC guys, no matter what the Big 12 does, their perception won't change.
So, that being said, I root for who I want, regardless of conference affiliation.
This comment makes no sense. If anyone in Big 12 basketball is costing the other schools money it's certainly not Kansas and UT. We need more Big 12 teams having success. Then everyone makes more money. KU has certainly done it's part forever. Texas has done it's part the last decade. It's time other teams stepped up.
Butler is just so hard-nosed and they never stop. KSU started this half on a little run and looked like they were gonna take over. Butler comes right back and goes up 8 in almost no time.
