Here is a quick preview of both squads.... I will try to keep track of our new conference brethren for us as the year goes on. Call me crazy, but TCU doesnt look that bad this year for having such a terrible reputation. Seem to have a solid team makeup.

Hopefully they can have a good year and sign some good players for next season. Looks like they will be losing a couple of their better players.

When do they join the Big 12? Will it be AFTER this year?

PG: Hank Thorns (5'9'' 165-senior)
-All-Mountain West Conference Third Team. named one of 66 preliminary candidates for the Bob Cousy Award, which is given annually to the nation's top point guard ... led the Mountain West Conference while ranking No. 4 in the NCAA in assist average (7.0 apg) ... also led the MWC and ranked No. 12 nationally in assist/turnover ratio (2.71) ... was the only player to rank among the nation's top-12 players in both categories.

SG: JR Cadot (6'5'' 205-senior)
-J.R. Cadot experienced a solid first season at TCU ... saw action in 32 games with 22 starts ... led the Frogs and ranked No. 6 in the Mountain West Conference in rebounding (6.0 rpg) ... averaged 2.50 offensive boards per contest, which was third-best among all MWC players ... led the Frogs in overall field-goal percentage (65.9 percent) while ranking No. 2 on the team in steals (33) and blocked shots (14); No. 3 in assists (34); and No. 4 in scoring (8.2 ppg) ... paced TCU in rebounding a team-best 13 games and scoring four times.

SF: Garlon Green (6'7'' 210-junior)
-Garlon Green made huge gains during his second season on the court for TCU after seeing extensive action as a true freshman ... was one of three players to see action in all 33 contests while leading the Frogs with 32 starts ... finished as the Frogs' leading scorer with 369 points, an 11.2-point-per-game average ... his scoring average ranked 18th in the Mountain West Conference and No. 5 among league sophomores ... ranked No. 15 in the league, sixth among MWC sophomores, and second among Frogs in rebounding average (4.6 rpg) ... his field-goal shooting percentage (48.4 percent) was second on the team, while he led the Frogs in 3-point shooting (47.6 percent) and treys made (49).

PF: Amric Fields (6'9'' 210-soph)
-Amric Fields had an impressive true freshman season for TCU in his first year on campus ... was one of only three Frogs who played in all 33 games ... started nine contests, including eight of the final 14 games ... led TCU in blocked shots (19), ranked No. 5 in points (225), rebounds (94) and minutes played (645) and was No. 7 in steals (18) ... ranked No. 2 among all Mountain West Conference freshmen in scoring and tied for fifth in rebounding.

C: Adrick Mckinney (6'8'' 250-junior)
-Adrick McKinney arrived from Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas, where ranked as the nation's No. 45 junior college prospect for the 2010-11 season by JucoJunction.com ... averaged 15.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game in 2010-11, leading Angelina in both categories ... named second-team All-Region XIV and second-team all-conference as a sophomore.

We shoulda offered Amric Fields.

You've obviously never seen them play...picked last in the Mountain West (again) this year.

The neglect the previous regime showed toward local talent was both mind-boggling and infuriating.

Oddly enough, it didn't start that way. I remember how pleased I was when Capel reached out to high school coaches in Oklahoma and Texas, almost from the moment he arrived on campus.

But something happened along the way that led him to believe OU could compete with the big boys on a national scale. A few pipe dream recruits later that didn't pan out, and it was too late to return to the recruiting philosophy that had worked quite well in his first two years.

Capel made a grave error in abandoning his original plan, and it cost him.
