Is Capel blackballed by AAU coaches?

This is one of those extremely intelligent "I've never seen a worse guard than Carl Blair" type comments.

I totally see how you can relate Blair's playing ability to Capel's coaching ability

AAU is just a team and most times the parent or kid (if there is any) have ultimate say so, not the AAU coach.

I think you're missing my point (if I have one) and that's...when a parent sends a kid from, let's say California by way of Oak Hill Academy, to OU...Jeff Capel becomes that kid's father/mother. 18 year old boys (especially) are immature and a lot of times need guidance. You guys continue to blame the kids, I'll blame the guy that gets the hefty (unwarranted) paycheck.

Klegg, you've probably raised your kid the right way. You should know that every kid does not come from the same household. I don't remember or I never looked into what situations these three came from, but I'd bet low-income, maybe even fatherless (assumption) homes. Let's say you're a single mom and have a kid with borderline-to-bad behavior characteristics...would you send him to Capel?

For every kid like a Cade/Cam (good personalities), there's a Cousins/TMG.

Everything that you are saying, I can relate to, except there is no evidence that Capel didn't try. No coach ends well with every player. If they did, no players would ever leave programs. All of your subjective examples are spot on, but none are proven to be the case here. People are saying what JC did or didn't do, without knowing the facts. As a parent, I would want the facts, and not what an AAU coach with an agenda thought....

He wont get them.Capel has yet to take responsibilty from last year them 3boys was still 18yr old kids and Capel hung them out to dry like they destroyed that team well FYI he is the freaking coach. The dfw area did not like that he showed no loyality to them boys in the media.

When the Titans and Webster are boycotting you, you are screwed

Tiny, himself, said he was coming back. Said he LOVES Capel. None of us know what happened with the alleged "loan", so you need to leave Tiny out of the "Capel mistreated these 3" argument.

TMG is REALLY the only kid that apparently learned nothing while here.

Heck, look no further than the thread on Marcus Smart. You guys are giving today's parents more credit than they deserve...

Heck, Cam Newton anyone???

And I totally see how some people can be smart enough to post on a message board, but not smart enough to control how intelligent those posts may or may not be.

And that's a major problem. A lot of these kids' parents are poor and there's just so much dirty agents running around.

I feel like we're talking in a circle here. THAT'S my point. You are trying to side with these morons...I'm assuming Capel is a pretty good dude. I'd say based on what we know, I have a better chance of being right.

You are right, both belong in Div 2

Not siding with the "morons" at all. It's just another way for me to bash Capel. I never said Capel wasn't a good "dude" though...I have said he's a horrible coach and I'm implying that he's a horrible molder of troubled youth, all things accordingly. You're right this convo is going nowhere with me in it, I'll jump out and let the sunshine pump.

Come on Jesse, its not about sunshine pumping or whatever the terms are today. That is so juvenile, IMO. No offense meant, but everyone is having a decent discussion. You made some valid points, no need to inject the sunshine stuff. People just have different opinions. Why not just continue to voice yours??

Also, I hope that you don't base your opinions on 3 young men only. How many troubled youth do you think that he has encountered in this line of work?? Remember he coached in the DC/Balt area, so troubled youth is a way of life out there. Surely you aren't basing your entire opinion on 3 kids with questionable character are you??

I REALLY think you guys need to quit referring to the "3 troubled youths". From all indications, the only kid Capel REALLY couldn't reach was TMG.

Tiny's situation was no different than a TON of kids that turn out fine at their university. In his situation, he made the decision based on the uncertainty of his NCAA eligibility.

Willie wanted to play pro ball.

Honestly, I didn't spend too much time basing my opinion.:)

I was going off what Chico stated about the DFW area and their opinion on how Capel is perceived to have handled the 3. I'd have to go look at Capel's entire career for a fairer summation. I just doubt that he's ever had 3 headliners like last year's guys and three more talented guys that have underachieved.

I'm up for discussion just like everyone else and it brings me back to those HS debate days...BUT when a poster is sitting on the "fire Capel" side like I am, the other side likes to chime in with the "stupid" and other negative comments. Sunshine pumping was childish, my apology.

Understood. I always enjoy reading your contributions. No apology needed my friend.:woot
