2012 James Woodard, Wing, 6-3, 175 (Edmond Oklahoma)

- Recently received an offer from Vanderbilt
- Has been tearing it up on the June/July AAU circuit
- Plus athlete, good student, good length, plays defense

I think we have to take this kid. He is like Josh Richardson. His younger brother (only one school year apart) is going to be a 5 star burger boy PG from our backyard. It has long been rumored by those in the know on this board that the Woodard family likes OU (sister just graduated from here) and that the Sooners were the first major school to show Jordan love in recruiting. I have heard that the boys are extremely close and would strongly consider playing together if the conditions work out right.

IMO it is a no brainer- you take James. You get Jordan. IF you land Rotnei Clarke then you find a way to cut the roster down in order to land a big in this class (which I think we need). Either Waverly or Ibeh.

Those that know me know that I would absolutely love for Marcus Smart to don the crimson and cream, but I also understand just how important that Jordan Woodard is to our future as a program. If Smart wants to be a Sooner then by all means try and find a way to make it happen.

But I would bet money that James would commit on the spot if we offered, and I would further bet that if we get James that we will get Jordan. It reminds me a little bit of Taylor and Blake....

Tough decisions in 2012 recruiting for Lon Kruger. :)

I love lefties....they are so good with the ball and always good shooters. I think he could end up being like Terrell Everett...looks like it in the videos...not sure how you pass on that...

Northstarbball update 7/21:

James Woodard, a 6’3 class of 2012 shooting guard out of Edmond Memorial (OK), is receiving interest from a number of colleges. Although the Athletes First standout does not yet have any offers, he said that Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Oral Roberts, Vanderbilt, Missouri State, Wichita State, and Liberty are all involved in his recruitment.

“Not really, but . . . probably between OSU, Tulsa, OU, and Vanderbilt probably,” Woodard said of his favorites at this point.

Woodard has taken unofficial visits to three of the schools on his list, having tripped to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tulsa.

“I plan to go back to OSU and Tulsa for sure right now,” Woodard said of what other visits he will be taking.

Asked who is recruiting him the hardest, the rising senior responded, “I would say Tulsa.”

Woodard’s younger brother, Jordan, is a talented 2013 prospect. Although James said they have discussed attending college together, he is “not sure” whether they will end up doing so.

Hope he ends up at Tulsa. I wouldn't mind him at OU, but I think we have bigger fish to fry. To bad he isn't one class later.

If we don't land Smart then I would like to see them take James.

Heard that James is going to be meeting with Coach Ford tomorrow and that "an offer could be there".

Sure would hate to lose those two to the dark (orange) side.

I think now that Rotnei is going to be a bulldog that we ought to seriously look at taking the James. JMO.

Two of our best recruits of all time were William Tisdale and Taylor Griffen. Taylor actually was very valuable on his own.

James visits OSU tomorrow. His stock is climbing over the last few weeks and I highly suspect OSU offers. It is unknown how OSU's recruitment of James will affect Jordan, but they are very close brothers.

I've heard from recent coaches recruiting James that they are higher on James than Jordan. That says a lot because Jordan is a bigtime talent that has the chance to be a top 40-50 player nationally.

I really hope he doesn't pull the trigger today. We need to lock this guy up

James Woodard has picked up an OSU offer. By my judgement OSU and Tulsa are the two main schools in contention for James.

James and his family were hoping to get an offer during their 2nd visit to Stillwater, and they left very happy. Sounds like OSU is in great position for the Woodards.

Because we have limited scholarships to offer for next year, and we're in on bigger fish.

With Clarke out of the picture, I am looking for Kruger and Co to offer James here shortly.

I am not sure what our realistic chance is on these "bigger fish". While I'd love to land Smart or Grant, I just don't see it at this point. I hope that Kruger is setting his expectations at a reasonable level for this class.

While I think OU should be able to land top regional guys, I just don't think the program is there right this second.

IF it were me, then I'd take Woodard, one other wing (Hield or Morgan for example) and then a big (Waverly Austin would be my top pick) and call it a class.
