Josh Baker - 6'4'' guard from Hutchinson CC listed Loyola in top 3

I seem to recall Porter saying something about wanting to play with four guards and a big. (Or something to that effect.) Admittedly I didn’t see much of Robinson in high school, but if he can come close to living up to his reputation as a shooter I’d like to see him in C&C. I know we have Gibson but I’d like another shooter on the squad.

Robinson is not super athletic and doesn't have a strong build, which negates being 6’7”. Plays a little smaller than his size. I think porter wants to play with a 4 that is offensively a guard but who can defend a 4.

All fair points. Maybe I’m putting too much stock in his shooting potential. Hard not to be enticed by it when we seemingly don’t have many shooters.

Moser’s done a nice job stocking the roster with transfers and I like what we’ve brought in. Just can’t help but feel we’re going to have struggles on the offensive end. Landing Thompson could certainly help address some of those concerns though. Hoping for the best.

Depth at the five looks like:

Groves / chargois / hill / j groves / issanza

He’ll be fine as the 5th center. Someone has to hold down that 13t spot on the bench.

Hill and J. Groves are not going to play the 5. Especially Hill. That isn't going to happen.

He did last year at times and did a fine job in spot duty. I don’t expect him to even average 1 minute per game at the 5, but foul trouble, injuries, matchups ... he’ll log a few minutes there as will j groves. Just saying we have enough bodies to man the 5.

T groves and chagrois will average 39.5 minutes per game at the 5 spot between them.

Exactly. There will be some random game where a ref is whistle happy, groves has 3, Ethan has 3, and there is 90 seconds left in the half so hill or j groves will play the 5 to get us to half.

Or the other team has a mobile 5, and we want to switch screens...that sort of stuff.

Exactly. I stopped reading when he mentioned J. Groves playing the 5.

Here's my response from a follow-up post: T groves and chagrois will average 39.5 minutes per game at the 5 spot between them.

If J Groves and Hill play the 5, it will be spot duty out of necessity. Foul trouble, injury, weird, end of half match-up ... down 4 with 20 seconds left and trying to set up a full court press ... or getting pressed and want four ball-handlers on the floor with a mobile 5.
