Kansas At Oklahoma

I did look at the minutes played. Against a few teams, (mostly not too good) she has gotten 15-20 min per game, but for the most part, her minutes have been minimum. Reason that I asked if it was a conditioning issue.

I don't think conditioning has much to do with it. She's tall, but not very big. And the posts we've played recently are big (osu twice, Hypocrite U). Vivi is really a better, and more successful, matchup against these type of players. She has lots to learn but a tremendous upside.

Nancy's two problems are (1) she's not strong enough to keep from getting pushed around, and (2) she has no offensive turn-around moves - actually no offensive moves at all other than the sky hook.

I think both of those problems will be overcome between now and next season.

I actually hope that Sherri rethinks Nancy. Nancy is different. I don't know that it is wise to try to fit a round peg into a square hole. She has some unique talents and capabilities.

She got a foul yesterday stepping in front of a driving guard. NO. Let her drive by and use your height to intimidate her. You are more likely to alter her shot than to block her drive. Think alter rather than always block. Sherri likes to use her posts in a trap on the side of the court, out front. No. I would think it would be more productive to keep Nancy about four feet in front of the rim in the middle of the lane. Alter shots. They will screw them up themselves.

Don't force your shots. Use your height to get a soft shot, or use your height to find someone who is open. Relax. It doesn't have to be scored by the post. Don't use her like Courtney.

Are you saying you know more than Sherri? Has the world spun on its axis?

The very idea that you know more than a Hall of Fame coach is presumptuous.

Such negativity.

If you have never seen electricity before, it might take some experimenting to see what it can do. Nancy is new. An agile 6-9 is new.

Oh, you believe in experimenting. I see.....

Do as I say, not as I do.

Double standard

:facepalm

I pretty much agree with you. We have a 6' 9" post, and there are times where she is 12 feet away from the basket on the defensive end, leaving the back side open to a good passing team. It negates what she can do well, block shots. By season end she will probably be in 10th place for her brief career on the career list. One thing she does very well, and we haven't had this in a big in quite a while. Nancy is very good at shooting facing the basket from 10 to 12 feet. We don't use her in that aspect from the high post, plus she can see cutters back cutting. I wold love to see more of that. Nancy has a lot of upside and I see her having a great career, we just need to be patient. JMHO

One of the reasons that Wooden was recognized as a great coach was that he adapted new styles of play to what was available on his roster. A Nancy Mulkey may be as rare as a Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, or Bill Walton.

I would be tickled to death, if Nancy could become a "Bill Russell" style player, one of my favorite all time players.
