Kansas begs Nebraska not to leave the Big 12

:ez-roll:

If true, it serves them right. If they didn't have such a hard-on for the Big 10 in the first place, I don't think the Big 12 would be where it is right now. Nebraska probably realizes that if they turn down a Big 10 invitation, it would just go to Missouri, who have made it clear that they would accept, and that would seriously threaten the viability of the Big 12. I think Missouri has put Nebraska in a position in which they have to accept a Big 10 invitation or risk being the ones left out of a major conference in the near future.

Mizzou is the guy who made himself too available to the girl (Big 10), and now she's not interested.

Wetzel is missing a huge point ... nothing about forming 16 team conferences will prevent a football playoff ... a lot of smart people think it will expedite it to appease the schools left out.

As for Missouri, I have said all along that Nebraska is more appealing to any conference as is Kansas.

Radio in Dallas is hot, talking about how Nebraska's apparent willingness to jump ship to the Big10 has sealed the end for the Big12. Evidently word out of Austin is without Nebraska, Texas is OUT. The dominoes begin falling from there. If the report about Nebraska is true, and the word leaking out of Austin is true, I guess we've seen the beginning of the end of the Big12.

For whatever reason, the only school that Texas trusted in the Big12 was/is Nebraska. I don't know the reasons or thinking on that. Just that's what's being bantered about down here.

Everything is pointing to the possibility that the Big 12 Conference could dead or at least on life support by this time on Friday.

Bebee: Nothing to see here, nothing is wrong...until the biter end. What an idiot.

From: @ChipBrownOB Sent: Jun 9, 2010 4:59p Orangebloods.com: Texas AD and President gathered coaches at 2 p.m. to tell them they did all they could to save B12 but were unsuccessful.

At least Kansas and Missouri can now be friends together in their quest to select which mid-major conference to join.

Poor Sawyer. Missouri may have really messed up. They are not a desirable program and as major conferences do their due diligence Missouri's flaws are exposed.

They are the 4th rated school in the Big XII north academically and they act like they are Harvard.

I think Mizzou ends up going to the Big 10. Right now the Big 10 is trying to get ND. But ND won't join a conference anytime soon.

You mean outside of OU and A&M. OU, A&M and Texas were always going to move to the same conference. And right now it looks like the PAC 16 deal is pretty much a done deal. Bob Stoops has said in the press that he likes the idea that says it all right there. The PAC 16 is pretty much a done deal. OU, OSU, Texas, Texas A&M, and Tech are going there. Colorado is already there according to reports.

Over on the phog they are imploding worse than Kentucky fans did during the whole BCG/Cal stuff last spring. I am loving it.

I'm thinking about lurking at a Tiger message board to see how bad it is there. They way overplayed their hand.

Plus that is where the Mountain West has there tournament and I doubt UNLV would be too keen on giving that up.

If KU joins the Mountain West I won't be excited about a trip to Vegas for the conference tourney. Too far. Too many distractions. I love the Big 12's in KC or OKC where you're their about hoops, mingling with other teams fans, have brews right outside the arena in the entertainment districts, etc. In Vegas it would be go to the game and then everyone goes there separate ways. But again, I like the Big 12 tourney for the basketball experience.

Good luck, Cheno and don't be a stranger.

There is a rumor floating around that Missouri is no better than 4th in line for entry into the Big 10:

1.)Notre Dame
2.)Rutgers
3.)Maryland
4.)Missouri

Well I think the Big 10 may add 2 more teams so that increases Mizzou's chance especially if Notre Dame declines. I do think it would be funny if Mizzou ends up in the CUSA or somewhere like that.

Well Nebraska makes 12 so they would have to add at least 2 more teams, not 1. I can't imagine a league having 13 teams in it. If the Pac 10 goes to 16 I think the Big 10 will also want to get to 16 (eventually).

Has there been any information about Big 10 expansion that didn't come from Chip Brown (and by that, I mean didn't come straight from DeLoss Dodds)?

The Big 10 will add a minimum of two more teams. They didn't do all this just to add Nebraska. If Notre Dame says no thanks, I'm confident Mizzou's in, whether it's 14 or 16. If Notre Dame joins and they go to 16, Mizzou's in. The only way Mizzou gets left out is if the Big 10 takes Notre Dame and only one other (Rutgers or Maryland). I think 16 is far more likely than 14.
