Last 10 games of the regular season under Jeff Capel

Yeah... just because Blake hacked James Anderson when he was going up for a rebound.

You know what I think might have cost OU that game? Turning the ball over 19 times while OSU only turned it over 10.

Take care of the ball and you win that game.

Or it could have been the 3 of 19 performance from behind the arc. OU had a massive advantage inside with the Griffin brothers (+10 rebound advantage), and yet they felt the need to jack up 19 three-pointers on a night when they weren't falling. I bet if they throw the ball inside 5 more times and take 5 fewer 3-point shots, they win.

Those had more to do with the loss than the ref calling a rare foul on Blake Griffin.

I have to agree with this. You have to get Blake the ball no matter what

This is what happens when you play six guys for 90% of your minutes. At the end they are gassed. We have won a total of two conference tourney games in Capel's tenure.

However, come NCAA Tourney time (assuming the team makes it) there is plenty of time to rest between rounds so the kids get to rest up. Terrible team management isn't nearly as crippling then!

OSU deserved to beat OU that night. They played well, needed the win a little more. I think at the time they were on the bubble if I remember right. They played harder than we did. Doesn't really matter to the thread.

Others have talked about how Jeff is 4-2 in the NCAA Tournament. He's 2-4 in the conference tournament. 6-6(50%) overall in the post season.

Kelvin Sampson was 11-11 in the NCAA Tournament, 1-1 in the NIT, 18-9 in Post Season Conference tournaments. Overall he was 30-21(59%)

Billy was 18-11 in the Conference Tournament, 15-9 in the NCAA Tournament, 8-4 in the NIT. 41-24(63%) overall

OSU deserved to win...and Blake fouled him anyway on the put back.

Just updated the numbers. They are only a little less pathetic.

2007
4-6 in the final 10. Won the first 4, lost the last 6.

2008
6-4 in the final 10. This one actually had a couple 3 game win streaks in the last 10.

2009
7-3 in the last 10. Lost 3 of the last 5 because Blake got hurt for a couple games. Had to also go to Columbia, but overall real solid end to the season.

2010
1-9 in the last 10. Lost the last 8 games.

2011
2-8 in the last 9 so far with one to go.

20-30(40%) overall.

Capel lost the last 7 out of last 8 in 2007.

Zilch...is your info still solid that capel will be back?

No sources BOB have I talked to. I just find it awfully hard to believe Joe C. who is very financially conservative with OU's money is going to pay Capel the 4.2 million owed him. Just not any where close to his mindset. Molly Boren and David love Jeff's wife Kamika. Joe C. has told numerous insiders he has full faith in Capel to turn it around. I don't think it has even crossed Joe C's mind. But I don't have a source I have talked to in a few weeks so I can't be certain just my opinion.

Joe C. does not make a habit in firing coaches. Name one that was important. Not Cochell as Boren tried to talk Larry out of it. BTW Joe wanted Cochell gone earlier but Cochell was smart enough to develop a very good relationship with the Borens.

I'd hope that money wouldn't be an issue. We should be able to find a donor that wants him gone that would help out. Maybe one of the donors that is wanting to contribute towards a new stadium.

The extension that Capel got is what Joe should be most ashamed of. Absolutely no reason to extend coaches that far out, until they are as proven as Stoops is. Why put yourself in a situation to owe that much money?

I think this is all pretty accurate and why he's getting another chance. I'm not sure he should, and I'm not sure it's a good thing. I just don't see a big improvement next year because of what we lack with Capel as a coach.
