Obviously this is a joke but I would like to see the NCAA Tournament go to 96 teams, with a Tuesday, Wednesday games between the 9 through 25 seeds and buys for the 1-8 seeds. I think the first round is one of the best parts of the tournament and you would effectively be doubling the first round.

I like your idea, Denver.

Why not take an exciting event like the NCAA tourney and make it bigger? That would open the door to the deserving teams who are left out every year, plus it would create more space for mid-major schools who are just as deserving as some of the schools that receive a bid.

There is so much parity in college basketball now, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a school that might have been left out before an expansion took place, go on to become a "Cinderella" that advanced to the Sweet Sixteen or beyond.

So what if expanding what is easily a top three event in college sports kills the NIT? That tournament has been all but dead for years anyway.

why? just why?

Yep, count me against further expansion. I actually didn't like the last small change they made. Making the "postseason" is suppose to be a reward, not a guarantee.

I'm with you. Lower it back to 64.

At least make all play-in games between bubble teams. No need to punish those small conference champions by never giving them a shot against the #1 seeds.

Didn't you no sense of humor guys watch the video? It's going to be expanded to 256 teams, that way everybody gets in. :ez-roll:

Seriously, while I think there may be room for more teams, I'm fine if the current format remains the same. I started this thread as a joke after I saw the commercial yesterday. That group at the end cracked me up.

Jeebus. Just let everyone in. It's no longer about basketball or the kids so why worry about anything? Just expand the tourney by ten days and make even more money.

I don't know why people are so resistant to change. The Tournament started off with 8 teams. It only had 40 teams in 1979. It then went to 48, 52, 53 and 64 teams by 1985. It has changed a lot over the years and will likely change again in the future.

I have been in favor of having 68 teams but i would set it up differently. I would seed the top 60 teams 1-15 in the 4 regions. I would then take the 8 lowest teams and match them up in 4 qualifying games (play-in games). Each of these winners then become the 16 seeds. Similar to what they do now.

64 was perfect, I normally dont even watch the Tuesday games the tourney starts Thursday unless OU happens to play on Tuesday,

At some point quality is more important than quantity. I like the tournament because 90% of those teams can beat anyone else in the tournament on the right day. Adding more teams just dilutes the field.
