Everything I've read says he wanted to attend a Prep School in the U.S. this fall but I haven't seen anything to suggest he's enrolled anywhere. Does anyone know if he's staying in New Zealand or coming over?

I think Matt is staying in New Zealand until he comes over and enrolls at OU for the 2nd semester and begins practicing with the team. This season will be used as his redshirt year ..... kind of like Buford did last year (only practicing with the team during the second semester).

The plan is to enroll in January. Which would be great for him to get here and get adjusted to everything. Also great for OU.

Ok thank you, that seems to be a great way to get a head start.

because of summer in the winter austrilia and new Zealand kids finish up high school in December ... so that is when he is done with school ..

dante exum did this a couple of year ago and almost joined Louisville at semester .. (but he would have had to wait another year to turn pro if he did that .. instead he just went pro

Awesome! Thanks Boulder! Good info!

Will be in town for an official visit this weekend

That seems like a bonus. A guy that should be a top 100 recruit getting a semester to practice with the team is awesome.

Not only practice, but to see the games. Hopefully, he can also travel with the team.
He can go to OKC and work out with S Adams. He should be a stud his freshman year.

If Freeman is a legit 6'9" he will be very handy with his ability to shoot the rock. If he can consistently drop the 3 ball at that height, he'll automatically be a nuisance on D due to his height and length and a if he can snatch 5 or 6 boards a game he will play a major role.

He's a perfect fit as a stretch 4....hope he can rebound and play some defense.

Rival.com's Eric Bossi made the quote below about Freeman right after he committed to OU. It has been posted before, but I'm repeating it here for anyone who might have missed it. When Eric Bossi speaks, I listen. IMO, he's one of the best recruiting analyst in the business:

Matthew Freeman can really play. I wrote about him back in June when he came to the States with New Zealand's three x three team and was planning to do a new update on him this week after seeing him again at Adidas Nations.

He is a legit 6'9" has a very solid frame and is a good athlete. He should be able to add 20 pounds in the weight room without it costing him any flexibility or athleticism.

He plays hard, is a very good passer and is a lights out shooter for a guy with his size. He's cut out of the mold of NBA player Ryan Anderson.

The reason that he is a non ranked 4-star is because he does not regularly play competition in the States and we don't put International kids into the Rivals150 unless they are regularly playing the competition that we know and have scouted.

Put it this way, if the kid were playing in the U.S. right now or had been regularly competing against kids on the summer circuit here in the States, he would be at least a top 50 type prospect.

Very nice get for the Sooners.

im hoping he'll be like kyle wiltjer from gonzaga. lanky scorer

Westlake Boys 91 Middleton Grange 86

And now we get to the game of the day, the superb showing which unfortunately wasn’t live streamed.

Westlake, who had stumbled in pool play with some unconvincing displays, stepped up their game when they needed it most, with a phenomenal 47 point effort from Matt Freeman getting them home.

Up 46-34 at halftime, it looked like it would be a cruise for Westlake, but Middleton, led by Sam Timmins, came roaring back into the encounter with a massive run putting them up by 10, having won the third quarter by 34-12.

They then extended that lead to 14 with just under seven minutes to go, at which point the tide turned.

Westlake first cut the lead to four, before tying the contest with just a minute remaining. They then made another basket to lead by two, and well, let me

A 47 point performance? That Freeman kid must be pretty good. :D
