MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

Give me Sparks and Minor....throw in Collins and I wouldn't hate Taran Armstrong, Jamison Battle or another shooter.

Re: MBB TPT2

I know its crazy early. But i cant wait to start filling in the boat with some names (and also releasing some of our current catches still)

Jalen Hill picked up a follow from a Memphis assistant tonight.

Faragi Phillips.

HE'S NOT IN THE PORTAL. Yet. :ez-laugh:

I’ve heard Bijan is close to portaling. Dropping a level.

Bittersweet if that's the choice Bijan makes.

On one hand, you always root for the local, okpreps kid to succeed at OU. Bijan, by all accounts, is a great kid.

On the other hand, it feels like the right move for the kid and for the OU program (IMO, obviously).

Yep, Noland and Cortes are not B12-level players— at least not rotational guys on B12 Tourney-quality teams. Doesn’t mean they suck as basketball players or didn’t do their best while at OU. Also doesn’t mean they are incapable of playing well for stretches even in the B12. But if you are trying to build a program that can make March runs, you have to have players at a higher caliber than that. I think both of them could do quite well stepping down a level the next two years. This is ultimately how you wind up not playing in the post-season— too many swings and misses on kids over past few years.

Cortes was VERY close to leaving last year. Closer than Noland, actually. Not a surprise both are leaving looking for "better/more" opportunity. Both are types that OU should be able to replace rather easily.

I said this the other day and I'll say it again:

If OU had a better roster and Cortes could be on the court with 2-3 players that can create their own shot and he can just facilitate and get help on D, I think he could function as the backup pg. But currently OU isn't putting that kind of talent on the floor around him, especially if he is playing with any number of the bench guys. Having mediocre talent around him on the floor really limits how effective he can be. IMO, of course.

I suppose players won't start committing to new teams until the tournament is over. Getting a bit anxious about additions for next season.
Feeling it desperation time for OU. No quality additions means no hope for next season.
Does Sherfield have another year to play at OU if he chooses to stay?

I agree. Put him on a roster with Hield, Cousins and a guy like Latin he could throw a lob to, he’d be ok. His problem has been defending and turnovers. He’s gotten better. I see North Texas, ORU and Tulsa as options.

Glad to hear he’s going down a level. Problem is high major guys who don’t produce get second high major shots. Also low major guys with fake stats get high major shots. This creates bad rosters for a lot of programs.
