MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

I'm waiting to see you post something positive about OU basketball at some point.

Maybe go back to all the posts where I was called a homer because I said so many positive things back when … you know, there was a basis to say something positive about OU basketball.

Do you really think it’s encouraging that a guy who couldn’t see the floor for a team that was on the bubble for much of the season would be a no-brainer starter for us? I don’t care how many stars he had by his name two years ago, he has done nothing in college.

That team has underachieved...but it has nothing to do with talent. Calipari does this year in and year out...Collins provides athleticism that we don't have on our roster for a big. Just because he was buried on the bench doesn't mean he doesn't have talent.

Whats funny is, a lot of guys fret over us losing Bennie and talk about PM not playing him but someone on Kentucky's bench must suck?

I simply think he'll be better than what we have...and a step in the right direction of what we NEED. We need to add more than one big...he would be a good start.

UK gets the type of talented bigs we can only dream of. I'm not that phased by his inability to contribute, given that he's backing up a senior that was similarly highly recruited and former POY, and he's competing with other 5-stars off the bench. He may not be the savior we need, but he's a lot more valuable to a school like OU. Even if he truly has no offensive game, there were times when it would have been nice to put him out there like OSU, when Tanner couldn't buy a bucket.

He’s a poor man’s Mousa Cisse. Cisse is actually a better scorer/shooter. He had 17 offensive rebounds on the year. He played in 24 games…. He averages 1.8 points a game. He’s.the eleventh leading scorer for UK…. As much as it pains me to say this, he’s not as good as Tanner Groves.

I would love to have him as a backup. He just adds an element (athleticism) that our team has lacked. And if he can add some size and develop a little, that would be a big plus.

Me too. He’s not a savior though.

CJ was at North Texas today.

I think he's priority #1 imo. Then, id still get another small school 5 too

When is Hump going to recruit a HS big? Or is that too much to ask of the assistant coach that so many around here are so high on?

Uhh...wasn't he brought in during the season? Maybe let him have an offseason before complaining?

I doubt OU will have 3 “5s” on the roster this time next month.

Who’s leaving? Norweather or Yaya? Godwin is a fine backup, I doubt the focus will be to bring in a backup 5. Maybe a backup 4/5 that can play 18-22 minutes, but it seems PM doesn’t like 2 bigs (Groves & Chargois).

I’m not saying one of them won’t leave, but if it’s not Godwin I doubt OU tries to get a big other than a starting 5. Even though I’d commend PM for recruiting over Godwin.

I feel like we should be recruiting as many bigs as we possibly can. We have tons of weaknesses and holes, but that is a glaring one.

Sure, but if players don’t leave you can’t have 5-6 guys who only play 1 position.

I agree with this. Our inside game has been a pretty big weakness....that and our outside shooting was pretty pedestrian a lot of times.

You do not want to go into the season with your inside presence being Godwin, a guy who redshirted and hasn't played a college game and one that has been injured pretty much every single year of college. That would be miserable.

I assume the coaches know at this point who is leaving. And in our situation, we need to be looking to upgrade everywhere. One of our bigs hasn’t stayed healthy in two years and another was a lightly recruiter kid who apparently wasn’t even ready to help a bad team this season. If they plan on staying, we shouldn’t let that stop us from trying to improve.

I was talking about bringing in a starting 5 & Godwin being the backup. If Yaya or Norweather don’t leave I don’t see how you can bring in another 5 (along with a starter). I’m in no way wanting Godwin to start next year.
