MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

He was part of the rise of Baylor hoops.....he knows how the system works. They been paying players for years. You don't think Tang would have taken a job without knowing what kind of support he'd get when he needed it do you?

I'm sure he has the right "donor" on speed dial.

A lot of the "donors" at Baylor were not affiliated with the school.

Same difference...NIL isn't supposed to be school funded. I'm just saying he surely has people lined up when he needs players.

He was just the third-leading scorer on the team (virtually tied for second). Who needs a top defensive player who scores 10 points a game? Certainly not us! I'm sure we have a first-team all-conference, player of the year-type guy lined up who'll be arriving in Norman any minute now.

Third leading scorer on a team that didn't make the tournament. Couldn't consistently create his offense and couldn't develop a reliable 3 point shot or game or finish around the rim. He's versatile on defense and that part of his will be missed. Loved the player, but he's a role player, and can't be your 2nd or 3rd best player in the Big 12 if you have tourney hopes as we saw this year.

Bingo. Good luck. I'm going to be interested if his stock is super inflated here or not. Wouldnt be surprised to see him be a bench player somewhere else (depends how big of a school)

Whether or not he should have been our second or third best player, the fact is he was that--and now he's gone. Moser's had two cycles to find someone better in the portal and hasn't done it yet. Perhaps the third time will be the charm, but I won't be betting the rent money on it.

I don't understand dismissing one of our best--and our most experienced--players as he departs. We have four young recruits we're going to be counting on--what could be more valuable than a hard-nosed, hard-working defensive specialist (who also happens to average double digits in scoring) to provide some leadership in the locker room?

Given the choice, I'd have kept Hill and let Sherfield go (we may well still lose Grant). Hill is at least as good on offense as Sherfield is on defense.

I’ve heard Jalen will easily be able to get250k. Absolutely insane in my mind.

I don’t know what we paid him or would pay him.

You don’t know what OU paid or could pay, but you know what he can easily get thru the Portal?

VBDad has consistently brought sourced info to this board since I can remember.

Ou is getting destroyed in hoops NIL/fan support/facilities. It is beyond obvious.

Ou offered 250k.

Thinks he will get 500k in portal.

250k for 9 ppg and 5 rpg? Ouch...if people are paying more than that then who WANTS to invest in basketball?

That said, if I could get a guard that averages 20 ppg for 300-400k I'd rather make that investment. LOL

If you only see 9-5. That tell most of us what we need to hear as of late!

Because as we all know, basketball is about nothing more than scoring. Nothing else matters.

It’s so funny that Ryan Spangler is loved by so many on this board, but Hill is being trashed by so many as a guy who doesn’t provide much and won’t be badly missed. If we didn’t play at a snail’s pace, and if he had teammates like the 2016 team had, Hill’s numbers would have been better than Spangler’s. Add in the defense, and it’s hard to see how people don’t see this as a loss.

Jalen is a solid player, that's all he is. Not special, just above average. I was always surprised when he would hit a three. Never improved his form, still shoots from his chin, I was money shooting that way in 8th grade 😄. Played with great effort which i liked but he's not going to be a go to guy unless it's at a small school.
