MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

Those stats were over 3 games. You said he never looked out of place. He absolutely looked out of place against osu. And it is the exact example of why he isn’t irreplaceable. He was regularly dominated by any decent 6-8 forwards.

I'm trying to come up with a Sooner who didn't look out of place against oswho, but I'm stumped. But sure, single out Hill if you like. Your "tiny ass" comment had a venom to it that was revealing.

Anyone have a list of the latest Moser follows by chance?

I have as follows:

- F Jonathan Pierre, Nova Southeastern, 6'9''
- C Yohan Traore, Auburn, 6'10"
- C Kadin Shedrick, Virginia, 6'11"
- G Jayden Taylor, Butler, 6'4"

Am I missing anything?

Jacob Groves will hit the portal today. The two big guys who didn’t play this year should too.

Basically needs to be a full overhaul of guys. Every guy signed should be competing to start. At this point they need bodies.

0 reason for Northweather to transfer .. and Kieta was hurt all year no reason for him to transfer either ..

You can check out the box scores if you need a refresher. Hill was the worst ou player over those 3 games by a wide margin due to being outmatched physically. It’s a large enough sample to see that he will struggle against a legit front court. Jacob groves even played better against osu because he had the size to compete.

The tiny ass comment was tongue in cheek but I can see how it was interpreted that way. I don’t have any “venom” for Hill, but the sudden glamorization of an offensively-challenged tweener has been over the top here (especially considering that the same people acting this way were dogging the team talent and coach relentlessly throughout the year).

I present you a rather significant data set of games when Hill was dominated and absolutely looked out of place on the court and this is your retort? That’s certainly 1 way to take the L in a debate.

Hill:

Can guard 1 through 5. Might be the only player in the conference that can. An all league defender who held the conference player of the year to a bad shooting night in Lawerence Field house.

Practically a double digit average scorer. Average that through most of the season despite Groves(a below average player) and Sherfield a lead guy who’s really a secondary guy being the focal point of the offense.

Great feel for the game.

Averaged the most minutes because he was the most valuable to team success.

Good ball handler for his position.

Great passer for his position.

Outstanding rebounder.

Started every game.

He will be one of the most highly sought after guys in the portal. Will likely end up at UNLV.

A real basketball knowledgeable guy would see that and understand his value and not cherry pick the OSU game. You also omitted the Alabama game……

Is that based off info you have been hearing, or just the fact that it is home for Jalen? If I were him, I would look to go someplace that will give him a chance to win big, unless there is a huge gap in how much money he can make.

He's no more offensively challenged than the rest of the team, so I don't understand the desire on the part of many to single him on his way out the door. I'll say it again: He would be our second-leading returning scorer if he weren't leaving. TGrove averaged just half a point per game more than Hill and Sherfield scored just six more points per game--and very likely negated those six points with his limited defense. Every other player on the team scored less than Hill did.

And Hill's 10 ppg game didn't come via volume shooting. He had a better shooting percentage than every returning player--including Sherfield--on the team except Godwin. If Sherfield were to leave, I imagine those dismissing Hill would react very differently, but if after checking the stats (and considering defensive performance), it's not at all clear that Sherfield was more valuable to the team than Hill.

And I already did check the stats for the oswho games. No one covered themselves in glory in those games, including Jacob Groves (Hill outscored JG by a few in those games).

You just spewed a bunch of unsupported opinion. Other than “most minutes played” (on a poor roster by ou standards), you did not even bring a single stat to support your claims.

Your debate card has been revoked. Misuse “your” again and we may have to pull your grammar card.

If you can't recognize his ball handling, defense, and rebounding, and basketball IQ without stats (and rebounding is, in fact, a stat), then that's on you. Even in the days of advanced stats and analytics, certain things aren't quantifiable. But it's telling that from his sophomore season on, Lon and Moser both used him as our inbounder against pressure because they realized he is a good passer and makes good decisions, and he also brought the ball up a fair amount when teams denied our point guard. He also managed to play great defense while very rarely getting in foul trouble, unlike some on our team.

Offensively:

18 games with single digits
14 games with double digits
18 games with an ORtg over 100
14 games with an ORtg under 100
5.75 rebounds per game (not outstanding, decent)
9.65 points per game (played 2nd most minutes still single digits)
APG - 1.34
TO/PG - 1.375
So not the best passer and not a good A/T ratio.

Hill doesn't work well with the offense, sorry to say. He may be a solid defender, but the amount of times he was swatted on layups may lead the country?

Maybe we relax before we start checking basketball knowledge cards?

What I’m hearing. Also has a former teammate living there, family there, and former coach there…..
