MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

Jacob gone also. Right now OU has 2 sophs at guard and a bunch of stiffs in the middle left. Maybe Mosers' son will be a starter next season at this rate.
Start praying for miracles for next season. Might even be worse than it was this year and who will want to step in this kind of catastrophe?

5 star recruit top 20 player in his class last year

We get these 2 guys and I would be doing cart wheels.

West Virginia just got Kerr Krissa and we are hoping for a juco and a guy who barely saw the floor for Auburn and is extremely raw. Par for the course of late.

Traore would be the most talented big man to come to ou since Capel was here.

Nova southeastern is not a juco, rather a d2 school who just went undefeated. Pierre is their best player and has been contacted by nearly every p5 team in the country.

Guarantee both end up at better programs than jalen hill does, too.

At least you’re consistent. If you gage it so bad why come here every day?

Serious answer with all due respect would be appreciated

Is it honestly that difficult to understand, coach? I love OU basketball, take every loss personally, and hate to see the program struggle in every possible way. We are bad on the court, have lost several key contributors since Moser took over, have not been nearly as successful as most our opponents in bringing in talent from the portal (yes, I get it, Grant was an exception), are losing coaches every year, and are falling further behind our league rivals just about every day. Would you prefer that I be like most OU basketball “fans” and just lose interest and become totally apathetic when the team is struggling? Or should I ignore the evidence that shows that we are spiraling quickly? You seem to be blindly optimistic. You get offended when people criticize Moser, you shift the blame to players and call them front runners if they choose to look elsewhere, and act like Moser is doing a fine job.

My posts since I joined this board have been consistent in that they reflect the tone of the program. When we were routinely making the tournament and spending parts of just about every season in the top 25, I was blasted as being too positive by people who thought we should be even better. Now, I’m called out by you and a few others for being negative. I haven’t changed. What’s changed is the program. I honestly can’t see a single thing that makes me optimistic in the direction of the program, and I’ve yet to see anyone come up with anything other than “well we have signed a couple good high school classes.” That’s fine, but those classes still aren’t as good as many/most of our league opponents, and bringing in one or two good high school players a year won’t get it done in this era unless you are supplementing it with multiple portal guys who will step in and be major impact guys from day one.

If Moser can close the deal and sign two or three of the approximately 478 guys who some of you believe are better than a guy like Jalen Hill, and those guys come in and are true difference makers in the Big 12, then I’ll be the first to congratulate him and own up to being wrong. And if next season he shows that he can actually solve the late game issues and turnovers, I’ll credit him for that, too. I suspect it is far more likely that all those things will continue, and that many on this board will continue to make excuses and blame the LNC, NIL, and our lack of fan support.

yep

both would be massive gets ..

I feel the same. Problem is Moser sucks as a recruiter.

They need to get rid of Norweather and YaYa because they suck.

Actually, Moser has done really well at recruiting HS talent. 4 of the 5 HS recruits so far have been top 100 kids and the other was state GPOY. We haven't seen that level of success in back-to-back years since OT and JC got us on probation for TG and TMG after WW.

His ability to get players in the portal has been a different story. IMO, it has a lot to do with the guys that were here (like having Tanner prevented other bigs), our NIL compared to other schools, lack of recent tourney success, and no proven path to the NBA under Moser. Those are the things that Moser is up against in the portal against other schools.

As far as Yaya- tough to call him a flop right now because of the injury last fall. I think he has the ability and potential, just hope his knees are like Greg Oden now. Until then, hard to grade Moser as anything but an incomplete.

Are we resigned to one of Oweh/Cooper starting?

I'd love to bring in two guards that can really score it, and start them next to Uzan next season.

I'd have no issues if Oweh ends up starting. If we could bring in enough talent that he becomes a sixth man, that would be great, but I feel like Oweh has enough upside that he could help us as a starter. His shot need works, but his defense and slashing make him valuable as is.

Why would anyone in the portal want to come here though?

In addition to what others have mentioned, it’s also just math. There are over a THOUSAND kids in the portal, they can’t all go to blue bloods or wind up at their top choice. OU is a Jordan brand school with a large, nice campus in P5 conference. A kid from Siena or Utah Valley or wherever may very well still be impressed by what OU offers even if they also realize it’s not to the level of the true college basketball powerhouses. Do I think we have much of a chance at the very top portal prospects? No. Do I think we can easily land some really good players that can help significantly? Absolutely.

the view of OU and Porter Moser is much much higher nationally and outside of this state then it is here

I would prefer Yaya move on but how do you know about Northweather? His tape shows some potential. It’s certainly not out of the realm of possibilities that he becomes a good player as an upperclassman.

I heard an interview question Moser fielded on Norweather. You could tell he doesn’t have any faith in him. When Moser doesn’t have faith in players they don’t play. He doesn’t even give them a chance to earn his faith.

I suspect he will go NIL hunting. Boynton cut his minutes down the stretch after he had a tremendous stretch run. That was odd to me…..
