MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

A good rule is if you don’t contribute to NIL opinions are best kept close to the vest. The sad fact is for players, it is money that talks.

I was pointing out Memphis has a history of infractions...it isn't recent only.

I doubt seriously they have problems digging into the deep pockets to spend on basketball, which is their flagship sport.

We likely aren't spending those kind of bucks.

A lot of the people atop my wishlist coming off the board this weekend. Still several left. Hopefully we close the deal on somebody in the next couple days.

Taylor would be a nice replacement for Hill. Both from vegas and even have similar hair cut.

Other portal news, traore needs to be our top priority.

From what I have heard, we have an uber talented big like Traore all but locked up. He's my guess, though guys like Collins and Ware fit the description.

They were stacked at the position… like 4-5 bigs in the rotation

Who, exactly? That’s not what it looks like from the roster. They had two bigs with good numbers and the rest hardly played. I’d guess his inability to make a shot or free throw was a big reason he didn’t play much. The first article I read about him said he is extremely raw, so whoever gets him likely won’t be able to expect much production for at least another year.

His minutes didn't strike me as being especially limited for a true freshman, but averaging 2 points and 1 rebound in 10 minutes of action is concerning. It suggests that he will be something of a project and not an immediate contributor for whoever lands him.

Pm can’t get a big…

Close (reportedly) to getting a 5 star big

He can’t play for another year… heard he sucks…

Sigh….

Who do you want? Oscar? Dickensin? Fork over 4-5 mil and he can be ours

The insufferable behavior on this board continues to reach new levels. In what world is potentially landing a 5-star big a bad thing?

I want someone who can help our team this season. If we can bring in someone to play this year and allow this guy to continue to develop as a backup, great. But if he is THE only big we get, I don’t think that’s a good sign. We aren’t in position to patiently wait for players to develop. We need immediate impact.

Also, since people whine whenever someone mentions our coach in any threads other than one, how about we also say you can’t use every thread to use NIL as an excuse. We’ve seen dozens of names tossed around as guys we are supposedly in on, and every time one signs elsewhere, the immediate reaction from some of you is, well, we didn’t really have a fair chance because we couldn’t compete financially.

I agree. It’s insufferable that some of you can’t tolerate opinions other than your own and have to try to be the moral police and patrol cops of the board. I also don’t really care about stars once a guy has already played in college. And again, I didn’t say it was a bad thing if we get him. I just have a hard time seeing a guy who played so poorly as a freshman making a massive leap in one season to the point where he would be a huge help in ‘23-24. If we add him and a guy more ready to help immediately, I’d be thrilled. I just don’t know how my comment that he is raw can be considered controversial, let alone insufferable, when that’s what the numbers show and what articles say. I also haven’t seen you reply to my question. Who are the 4-5 stud bigs he sat behind at Auburn?

I like Porter, I think he is a good coach who just hasn't caught up to the talent he needs to truly compete in the big 12... This could be the recruiting season he needs to accomplish that. Hopefully our nil program is catching up to the other schools in the big 12 and we can get the recruits in the portal we need to be competitive and 5 star big men are a great start. I actually like what we have left and look forward to the new players he gets in the portal.. all season we complained that we don't have the athleticism we need to complete in the big 12... Looks like Porter understands that and is trying to remedy that! He knows his back is against the wall and he must make the big dance next year!

We all assumed Collins was the former 5* big man that the random poster said month ago was going to end up at OU. Maybe it's this dude instead. I thought he was only 4* on 247, but I looked quickly and didn't check the other sites.

Did Collins hit the portal?

In what world is looking at his performance in actual D1 games a problem? We need at least one big who can be a solid (at a minimum) contributor immediately. It's entirely fair to wonder, based on his freshman season, if Traore is that guy. Is there a former three-star out there who's now a junior or senior and averages 25-30 minutes scoring 10-12 points and 5 rebounds? If so, might he not be a better fit given our immediate needs? Then perhaps we could also bring in Traore and hold an open competition between the two for the starting slot and let the better player win.

These are not unreasonable questions I'm asking.

I don’t feel the need to answer your question because I think it’s a lazy question that you can figure out on your own. Personally, I am a Bruce Pearl fan and I watch Auburn basketball.
