MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

In what world is looking at his performance in actual D1 games a problem? We need at least one big who can be a solid (at a minimum) contributor immediately. It's entirely fair to wonder, based on his freshman season, if Traore is that guy. Is there a former three-star out there who's now a junior or senior and averages 25-30 minutes scoring 10-12 points and 5 rebounds? If so, might he not be a better fit given our immediate needs? Then perhaps we could also bring in Traore and hold an open competition between the two for the starting slot and let the better player win.

These are not unreasonable questions I'm asking.

I assume OU is looking for more than 1 big in the portal - we need a starting center and a player to replace Hill. If Traore is one of them I’m all for it, but I agree that adding a complementary PF type that is a proven scorer would make a lot of sense.

Big picture, we have 6 spots open and need bodies.

I don’t feel the need to answer your question because I think it’s a lazy question that you can figure out on your own. Personally, I am a Bruce Pearl fan and I watch Auburn basketball.

I did figure it out and proved you wrong. Broome and Williams were the only two bigs they had who did anything. Not exactly the stacked, four or five man rotation you point to.

Pros: 6-10 with a lot of ability. Was behind really good players that were coming back, so limited opportunity for him there.
Cons: the ability is raw. Was a 5 star, but was 3rd at center at Auburn.

He excites me more than Godwin as the backup, but not as the starter.

You must be very proud of yourself. Good job for actually doing some work. That said, my actual point is unchanged. Yes he’s raw but he sat behind experienced players. Without those players, he’d play more and would have better numbers.

LJ Cryer to Houston. Can’t even get him out of our conference lol. He allegedly wants to play point guard but wonder how that’ll work with Shead. Either way, nice pickup for Houston and I’m sure they’ll make it work with that backcourt.

They picked up a good good transfer guard from Temple earlier this week. Restocking. This is what good additions from the Portal look like.

Not sure how well perceive our staff is with the Texas AAU cult.

Who, exactly? That’s not what it looks like from the roster. They had two bigs with good numbers and the rest hardly played. I’d guess his inability to make a shot or free throw was a big reason he didn’t play much. The first article I read about him said he is extremely raw, so whoever gets him likely won’t be able to expect much production for at least another year.

Broome was one of the best bigs in the SEC. The rest are all top 100 type recruits with more experience. Jalen Hill would have struggled to get big minutes on a loaded roster like this.

Jaylin Williams was a senior

Pm can’t get a big…

Close (reportedly) to getting a 5 star big

He can’t play for another year… heard he sucks…

Sigh….

Who do you want? Oscar? Dickensin? Fork over 4-5 mil and he can be ours

TBF Coach, isn't that 5 star about to commit to Indiana? I mean, I would love a 5 star. Hell, I would love any player that averaged over 15 ppg at this point. We need hell of a love of help.

Coach is talking about Traore.

Jalen Hill is a 6’6” guy who plays the four and occasionally brings the ball up the floor, so I imagine he would have a hard time finding minutes at the five. I’m not sure what that has to do with the price of tea in China. And it’s hilarious that you hype up the latter two guys, who, as juniors, averaged 3 points. I really could not care less how they were ranked three years ago coming out of high school when we now have multiple years of evidence to see how they actually stack up against college competition. They both have shown they are pretty terrible.

You're terrible at math if you think those guys I mentioned all played the five this year.

Lol and you’re just clueless. Why would you bring their four-men into a conversation about why Traore didn’t get minutes or produce for them? And why on earth would you suggest Jalen Hill would have had trouble playing for them? What was possibly your point in mentioning two terrible college players just because they were top 100 recruits? You know who else was? CJ Noland. Again, who cares about recruiting rankings for guys with three college seasons under their belt?

What if I told you that, in some systems, the four and five are interchangeable? Some coaches have minute differences between the two.

Now, that is rarer these days and I have not run a system like that for over 20 years. I also did not watch much Auburn hoops. I'm just saying to lump all 4s and 5s together is like assuming ever team uses a stretch 4.

I can't tell you why Traore didn't get minutes but because he didn't doesn't mean he couldn't contribute here...I mean look at Alondes Williams...I'm sure Wake people thought "why are we taking a guy who was a role player at OU".

I know they don't play the same position but you get the idea.

I didn't bring them into the conversation. You were already discussing them. 4s are typically considered bigs, and clearly that's what the other poster was referring to.

And why on earth would you suggest Jalen Hill would have had trouble playing for them?

Hill and Groves were our starting bigs last year. How dysfunctional is your brain to think that's an abstract comparison to make?

There's a huge difference between not having a spot like Noland in the rotation of a 15-17 team behind guys that are transferring to medicore mid-majors (or worse) vs these guys at Auburn that are backing up NBA and all-conference guys. Talk about clueless.

Hugley from Pitt?

I do not think we take the boones. I think we would take Kalib I dont know on Kelan.
