McGusty transferring to Sunshine Prep

I looked on his Twitter page and didn't see anything about it. It would surprise me because it's the end of October. The Katy schools have already finished the first 9 weeks of the semester.

My apologies on the typo...I meant Sunrise (was thinking Kansas all along).
This could actually be a good thing with the guys we're pursuing there...and it seems they're building quite a powerhouse. It started with Buddy, we just barely missed on Nairn. With the Kansas connections we already have with Kruger, this should pay huge dividends down the road.

I got this second hand from an administrator. A few weeks back they had a "shooter" scare of some sort at NN. Apparently after that died down, he made a video that appeared on Facebook/Twitter or one of those social media things holding a gun and saying, "who's gonna be the shooter now", or something of that nature. Apparently given the choice of suspension for the remainder of the year or transfer. Now don't go bet a million bucks on this, again, it was second hand and sketchy.

Talking about Kameron Mcgusty, not Lindy Waters.
I'm wondering the same thing. The Katy schools are already half way through the semester, so it's an odd time to transfer. He has said nothing about transferring to Sunrise on his twitter, and there isn't anything published except on that VYPE web site. He even retweeted something about his Katy Seven Lakes team starting practice in 5 days.... just retweeted it last Thursday.
He is publishing a lot of pro-OU tweets, so I think his commitment is still solid. There's not a word about Sunrise, but it very well be true.

When kids start transferring around it's often the credits that get lost in the shuffle. Their academics take a backseat and they finish high school "graduated" but not cleared by the NCAA.
Maybe Sunshine (whichever one) does a better job at it than others, but I'm still gun-shy from the Buford fiasco last year to not lump all of these academies into the same basket.
Heck, look at all the trouble kids in the Metroplex had when transferring into and out of Prime Prep.

Agree, OU gains zero advantage from him going to Sunshine...something is amiss, especially given the timing.
I see your point. But, like you said hopefully Sunrise has a better track record.

I think Sunrise is somewhat of a real school. Others are just online or homeschools... They actually have a building! I dont think sunrise has had any issues with the NCAA clearinghouse.

Somebody help me out here. Is McGusty transferring to Sunshine Prep or to Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas, Buddy Hield's old school? If it's "Sunshine," where is it located?
It's almost never a good thing when kids start bouncing around from one school to another. Like Sooner04 pointed out, grades don't always transfer well, and the result is all too often a loss of credit hours that could be the difference in being eligible at the college level.
Still, I will feel better if he is planning to transfer to Buddy's old school. Sunrise appears to be a cut above some of the basketball factories that don't always devote enough attention to academics.
