Wow. 4 of our starters on that list speaks to our depth....or lack thereof. I thought Kruger was very judicious with his timeouts on Monday....trying to maximize rest for his starters and I thought it worked for the most part. The only way we were winning that game is with our "A" team, so he had to keep his starters in there.

Having said that, I think Kruger is going to have to find a way to give his starters more of a spell as the season progresses. I'm hoping we can blow some teams out at home or at least have comfortable enough leads where guys like Booker, Bennett, and Lattin can get more time.

cbs just wrote a small article about our lack of depth... it really hurts us..

Probably one of the contributing factors to not being able to get over the hump and close out the tight games.

Love this coaching staff, but this is all on them.

And a little of it is bad luck with Buford. Speaking of Buford, would've been nice to have him guarding Oubre on Monday and not Woodard.

Yeah good point. Cousins shuts Mason down, but Oubre goes off.

Our coaching staff substituted freely early on (some posters even thought too much) in an attempt to build depth. Booker's back problems delayed his progress. Lattin has shown a lot of promise at times, but he seems to have regressed in the last two to three weeks. Bennett did not make the jump from his junior to his senior seasons we had all hoped for. Walker has been the most consistent of the subs, but even he has been good in some games and not so good in others.

In other words, our back up players have not given our coaches a lot of confidence in their ability to maintain or build on a lead against the tougher teams we have faced in conference play. I suppose you could blame the coaches for not recruiting better players, or for their failure to develop the back ups on our roster. But it's not like our coaches haven't given every player on the team an opportunity to prove themselves.

We just have to hope guys like Bennett, Booker, Lattin and Walker will step up their game going forward and relieve some of the pressure our starters must feel right now. If that does not happen, they'll all be exhausted going into the post season.

Glad to get the blame set. That's important.

Next year our depth should be much better ... Even if buddy leaves. But our starting five won't be as strong.

If buddy returns it will be even stronger. The depth is obvious though. Can't have a 9 man roster and expect to have depth.

This is on the coaches. We got lucky with Thomas being eligible. Think about our depth if he didn't get the waiver. Even with Cole on scholarship we still have a scholarship available that we aren't using so the coaches get the blame for the lack of depth.

You all realize that in OU's defensive system that our players do not guard "certain" players? They switch all down screens, cuts, and exchanges. No one player guards another guy from the opposition. To place blame or praise on any one individual (guards) and their defense is largely misleading due to style and what is asked of them by the coaching staff. It never ceases to amaze me.

Kruger likes to go at least 9 deep like he did last year. The fact that the regulars are playing so much speaks volumes.

I am hoping that Booker and Bennett start to get more minutes. Other than that I have no complaints. I wish we had the bench talent of some other teams but we do not.

This is why it sucks that Hornbeak left and Buford isn't eligible. Obviously if Hornbeak wasn't happy it is best for everyone for him to move on but if he had been happy it would have been a really good thing. I have no idea what Buford could have done this year but I really wish I had been able to see it.
