Trae Young isn't going to do anything to fix the Denver problem, and I don't think any other problems. If Lebron stays he will still dominate the ball most of the time, and the backcourt defense gets worse with Young.

Lakers defense isn't good enough. They aren't even close to what OKC, Denver, Minn have right now. In fact Denver is the worst of those 3 in most defensive metrics. Lakers have 3 guys with at least 2 DWS. Thunder have 6, Denver 5, Minnesota has 8. Lakers are bottom of the league in 3 point defense and middle of the league in overall defense. Even if you take out 3s they are not even in the top 10 in overall team defense. Lakers are towards the bottom of the league in steals. They need guards that can defend that's why they are in the play in every year and not even in the top half of the west.

You are right Trae Young doesn't help much because he doesn't really defend.

Correct. The Lakers need a sharp-shooter (like a more confident than at the moment Buddy Hield) and a defensive specialist. Trae Young is neither. You and I are of similar age, so I know you remember Michael Cooper. As great as those Lakers teams were in the '80s, we don't have all those titles without Cooper's great defense.

Sounds like the lakers need Lou dort
If you go by defensive win shares Dort is the 5th best defender on the Thunder team. That isn't accurate if you really watch them play but it shows how good the Thunder have been on defense as a team this year.

No doubt!!! Cooper was an elite defender and knockdown shooter. Even during the Shaq/Kobe era, they had at least two plus on-ball defenders in Fisher and Fox. LeBron was an elite defender early in his career, but not anymore except for the occasional chase-down block, which he is possibly the best at.

yes sir ..

This Knicks/Sixers series has been the best series of the first round.

Yep, that’s correct. After last game, it’s clear the Knicks had no intention of letting someone shoot another three instead of fouling. I’m sure the Sixers talked about it as well. So, Buddy’s shot and decision may look bad on their own, but he was clearly betting on the Knicks immediately going for the foul. So, he turned and tossed in hopes of drawing free throws. Didn’t pan out for him but to criticize the shot without taking the rest of it into account would be wrong.
