NCAA Tourney the Thread

I’m somewhat confident this title will be stripped eventually.

I don’t think so, unfortunately. I think their out will be that none of the players on this team were involved in whatever they end up proving.

Barf! Satan's Team won. I can't believe any OU fan wanted them to win.

They matchup well vs KU that was my point. McCormick dominated a very small team in Nova. He didn't get that many points vs Tanner Groves and Chagrois. Just giving my analysis on the matchups. Kansas of course comes in hot shooting over 55% from the field, but Duke was shooting 50% from the field coming into the game.

McCormick is also a much much better post defender then anything carolina has seen in the tourney

Duke has a very very free flowing O and doesn't always attack the mismatch

KU will put Brady in switches all game long (or if UNC doesn't switch ku will get open 3's and layups )

so much for "they matchup well"

UNC starting guards 5-24 and 5-17 against the very very good KU Defense

Bacot 3-13 against the very very good KU defense

McCormack 7-15 15 and 10 against KU ...

kansas missing layups and 3's is why UNC was in the game ..

I felt like Bacot's ankle severely limited him, and he still impacted those missed layups.

Kansas is a strong team. They were out of sync in the first half. To give UNC no credit for that when Bacot was forcing the action to get key Kansas players into foul trouble and impacting layups is selling UNC short.

Kansas 100% set the tone at the beginning of the 2nd half. They forced UNC out of their game with great half court defense. I thought Davis should have used his timeouts earlier in the half.

Davis deserves tons of credit for keeping that team together when the season was on the verge of collapse, but the "Carolina way" of not calling timeouts is indefensible. I know 1/100 of the Xs and Os of any good college coach, but I also knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that KU was going to make a huge push to start the second half, and that the game hinged on how well UNC could withstand it. To let them erase the entire lead before using a TO is coaching malpractice. Add to that the fact that UNC lacks depth and had multiple guys who were exhausted, and it is ridiculous that he ended the game with a timeout still on the board.

I loved the Bulls as a kid, and liked the way Phil Jackson would let them play through rough patches. But I loved it because he had the greatest player in history on his team and was coaching pros. In college, it is such a dumb strategy.

Fans are funny.

Listening to OU basketball fans talk about Kansas basketball sounds identical to how the rest of the Big 12 teams talk about OU football.

Really? Since the Switzer years, I have not heard a single peep from any fan base about OU cheating to get recruits. Not one time. Please share your insights on our cheating scandals in football over the past 32 years.

Every single OSU fan on earth thinks that OU gets away with rampant cheating, and gets favors from the NCAA, etc.

All Big 12 fans think this.

Where does Kansas get players that look like time-travelers from 1952? I'm speaking of Braun and Lightfoot? It seems like they always have at least one player who resembles the players from Hoosiers? Do they clone them????

I’d like to hear from our resident OSU fan on this one. OU barely has top 10 recruiting classes and hadn’t finished #1 in recruiting since 1975. I know our fan bases have it out for each other, but I can’t imagine they’re that obtuse. As for Kansas, I’m guessing that if they hadn’t had repeat NCAA investigations this century (something OU football has not), there would be less criticism of their cheating…at least there would be from me.

And look what I found on ESPN…hadn’t read something like this about OU football since the 1980s.

Now days with NIL cheating is basically legal. It just doesn’t matter much anymore.

That’s a fair point, but prior to that, if OU had been cheating in football this century, all I can say is that we were really, really bad at it.
