If the city council craps on this deal, I’d expect we’ll be waiting another decade at least before getting something done. After 10 years of SEC revenue, MAYBE we will have enough to build a new arena.

Yep, and in the meantime Gaylord Memorial will probably get another $500M in renovations.

In all honesty if we are moving out of Norman (doubt it happens), and this would suck, but wouldn’t it make sense to use the paycom center since they will be moving this decade?

We could have easily been looking at a new arena about 20 years ago when it would probably cost half as much and basketball popularity was way higher and you have a coach you could galvanize the program behind.

I don't think so. They never really got rid of the Myriad. They apparently will now.

It was for football pretty easily. I think they always just cared more about football and if you ask most OU fans they are the same way now.

No. But they’ll likely put the new arena at the Myriad site and use the paycom footprint as ancillary development. There’s no need for a second arena in downtown OKC.
