Since OU obviously has 3-4 spots to fill for next season now, let's discuss possible targets. That would include grad transfers, jucos and high schoolers. It's late in the process now, so it's going to be difficult to get high quality high schoolers, although according to Rivals there are several Top 150 kids uncommitted and unsigned. Unfortunately, none of them appear to list OU at this point. Jucos aren't what they used to be, so I'm not sure of the quality available there. And there aren't a lot of grad transfers that OU could probably land either. But OU does offer some pretty immediate opportunity to play next season. Lots of names have been floated, but how legit they are I don't know. Here are some grad transfer names that I've seen floated so far:

Juco PF Austin Trice has been offered.
Grad Transfer PG Aaron Calixte has been contacted.
Grad Transfer SG Ryan Taylor has been contacted.

Those 3 sound good to me. Make it happen.

If it were that simple. OU is not the only ones going after them. There will be competition for all 3 of them. I just posted this new thread so we could start listing and discussing possible options going forward, without all of the dissertation about the people leaving, etc.

Add these guys to your list:

Devonte Bandoo - 6'3'' 190 - (Hutchinson CC)
-Averaging 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists per game for Hutchinson CC. Plays with a few other D1 players. Shooting 44% from the 3pt line, 50% from the field, and 82% from the foul line. Currently has offers from OU, OSU, Indiana, Rutgers, West Virginia, Buffalo, and a few others.

Ricky Torres - 6'3'' 180 - (Missouri West Plains CC)
-Combo guard averaging 17 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebonds per game for Missouri State West Plains.. Starting to rack up offers. Shoots 43% from 3pt line, 50% from the field. Currently has offers from DePaul, Washington State, Virginia Tech, SMU, and a few others.

Antun Maricevic - 6'10'' 240 - (Casper CC)
-Stretch 4 averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds per game. Also starting to rack up offers. Maryland, UCONN, BYU, OSU, and many others recruiting him. Shoots 83% from foul line. Potentially like a Vladimir Broadziansky from TCU.

I'd prefer Taylor to the other two, even knowing we need a pg.

I have very little interest in Trice, unless one of Manek/Doolittle is leaving.

I like Maricevic better than Trice, but OU needs to get one of them... Or some other guy capable of starting. Maricevic is taller and more skilled, but man, Trice is an athlete.

Like all of these guys better than the original 3 that were mentioned. Get a couple from this list, and maybe next year doesn't look so bleak.

Start where? It should be McNeace and Manek starting next year, with Doolittle having a shot. Those 3 should play a lot. Trice isn't big enough to play next to Manek or Doolittle. Which begs the question, is Polla really going to be our backup 5 next year? Yikes.

I might feel as you do if anyone on our roster next season went after rebounds and loose balls like Austin Trice.

First semester highlights (averages 12.1 rebounds per game):

Correct. Didn't like the size/position of player with the similar guys we have, but after 4-5 plays in that YouTube - sign him. Anyone that actually tries, is instantly head and shoulders above all the players on this team currently

If Manek can't defend or rebound then he is shooting/scoring off the bench... If Maricevic truly is like a Vladimir Broadziansky (from TCU) type of guy he has to start... They are about the same size, averaged very similar numbers in juco, shoot very similar percentages from field and free throw line, etc. Similar recruiting rankings. Similar eastern European guys.

That implies Maricevic is as versatile as the kid from TCU, but if that is true, he starts next to Jamuni. If OU is going to get better, it needs to sign guys who would play in front of Manek and Doolittle.

I don't think any starting spots are guaranteed...

Looking at the JUCO player rankings, I'm curious about some of these guys and if they would have interest in OU if OU came calling. I know nothing about any of them, and I don't know if OU would want them for 2 years. This is just about discussing their merits. OU has obviously offered Trice, who 247Sports has the #5 juco player. The #1 and #2 juco players are still unsigned.

JC #1 Jordan Brangers SG South Plains College
JC #2 Wendell Mitchell CG Trinity Valley CC

For what it's worth, jucorecruiting has them flipped, with Mitchell #1 and Brangers #2. They have Kuath #13 and Trice #56. Bandoo is #11, Maricevic #16 and Torres #32. It appears that jucorecruiting is much more comprehensive in juco recruiting, as they have a top 100. 247 on has a top 8.

Brangers is kind of a mess... he's been committed to multiple schools and seems to have issues. He is a good 3pt shooter though. Mitchell went to juco from Baylor.. He will have a good impact wherever he lands.

I listed the guys I did because they are tied to OU in some form or fashion. A recruiting website or blurb mentioned who they were being recruited by.

Bandoo looked WVU bound. Would like him because of his defensive work rate.

Torres I've liked because he's a shooter. He'll catch and shoot, he'll pull up, etc. He's not afraid to shoot, which is what we need.

I've always said I'll take the Evansville grad transfer, but that's not likely.

As for the Bigs, I have no clue. We like Trice, he rebounds well, but he's short and I fear he clogs the lane too much. Unless Doolittle leaves, which doesn't look likely, then I don't care for trice. I'm ok with the current guys we have as long as Spangler comes in the summer and beats the **** out of them on every rebound.

Thanks abd. I'm not too familiar with juco recruiting, and didn't think I would have to be this year. I'm just throwing guys out there that I could see OU maybe looking at this late in the game, without any insight into any interest or ties.
