Nice article on Austin Reaves and how he is fitting in on the Lakers

nice...sucks he's with james...but I'll cheer for him but not the lakers

Thanks for posting. Reading what some of the smartest players in the NBA say about his game just makes it all the more amusing to think back about some of the things posted about him last season. Still lots of work ahead for him to secure playing time and a long career, but he couldn’t have gotten off to a better start.

“He can play at this level, play at a high level,” James said after Reaves scored 10 points Tuesday. “I watched a lot of film on him when we drafted him actually. I knew right away that he could be an NBA player and play at this level. His size. His shot-making ability. His pick-and-roll play, his passing. High IQ kid. And he’s got a lot of dog in him too. A lot of dog in him too.

“That translates to our game.”

from lebron

I didn't get to watch much, but it seemed like all the role players except Baze were getting shredded on the perimeter. There's a role there for Austin if he's willing to take it.

I'd saddle up with LBJ a hundred times before I'd ever considering riding into battle with My-Me Irving.

James' problem is the same as Yankee baseball, Laker basketball, Bama football, etc. --- too much success for too long.

that is not his issue with most people ..

You get one free championship where everybody cheers you on, but after that, you're on your own. Everybody loved ring-less Lebron in Cleveland, but that shifted fast when his teams were actually viewed as perennial favorites. Same with Wade. Kobe's haters were piling up fast even before he cheated on his wife. It was cute when Tom Brady toppled the Greatest Show on Turf, but then the Evil Empire formed. Everybody cheered for Saban to take down Meyer and Miles early on, but now a Bama loss is one of the most uniformly cheered events in college football. Steph seemed like the most unhateable player to grace this planet but even his popularity took a hit when nobody could beat him. Giannis got his free ring last year -- watch the haters come out if he wins a couple more.

It's the same story over and over. If nobody hates you, it's because you're like Damian Lillard, and haven't ever won anything.

lol everyone did not love ring less lebron in ...

Really? I guess I don't follow him enough to do know that.

Something with his game? Too much hype? Etc?

I've just never liked the guy. I don't really care to debate it here with a couple of die-hard Laker fans, so I'm not going to go into detail. Just don't like him. His attitude. The way he carries himself. The things he chooses to speak out against. And how he's handled his career.

bingo...

I'll say this one thing, he bashes the police but then has them shut off the road so he can go to a concert.

On the court...he flops more than a fish out of water.

quote and bash all ya want.

It was about REAVES...hope he does well.

"penis envy" good Lord what a dumb as$ comment...

LeBron James is a by all accounts a good father, husband and has never been in any kind of trouble. I don't get the hate at all. And I'm not a Lakers fan.

On the topic of Austin Reaves. When I watched the Lakers game I noticed he was extremely engaged and was the first to jump up off the bench to cheer and congratulate his teammates. It was nice to see. I hope he gets some PT soon.

The guy isn't perfect by any means. I admire the fact he grew up without a father and easily could have become what so many other great athletes from the inner city become. He is a great father, husband, and role model. He stays out of trouble, and he is always very active with his family. He took numerous childhood friends and he helped them attend college, become professionals, and now many work with the NBA id different capacities. He helps disadvantaged kids, and started the I Promise School in his old community.

Before he joined my Lakers I disliked him because being honest he was the only threat to Kobe's legacy at the time. I started learning more about him when he led Cleveland to the title, and since he came to LA I have supported him. Yes he flops, as do most of the NBA of today. My take on what he said about the police is different than some here, but I won't go deep into that because it's simply politics, and we all know that will never get resolved here. We had about a 1600000 page thread that showed that during the election cycle.

I'm glad Reaves is with the Lakers. I believe he will get an opportunity before the season ends because of the ages of the veterans we have. Can't hurt him at all to learn from one of the greatest players to ever play the game....
