Nice article on Austin Reaves and how he is fitting in on the Lakers

I've just never liked the guy. I don't really care to debate it here with a couple of die-hard Laker fans, so I'm not going to go into detail. Just don't like him. His attitude. The way he carries himself. The things he chooses to speak out against. And how he's handled his career.

i am a massive Laker fan and don't care for lebron at all and never have ..

and yes was still happy he got us another championship .. and hope he wins it again this year ..

never liked shaq either (from before he was a Laker)

Shaq is more likeable now as media ...

On the topic of Austin Reaves. When I watched the Lakers game I noticed he was extremely engaged and was the first to jump up off the bench to cheer and congratulate his teammates. It was nice to see. I hope he gets some PT soon.

i would guess they will rest guys (westbrook rondo) often and he will get some run ..

lol yes they did

As soon as he did the Decision I did not like him in the NBA. I don't like how he tries to big time people in the NBA, his Hong Kong stance was terrible, and I don't like all the complaining. Outside the NBA I think he's a great person.

How could you not like Shaq, ever? He is awesome.

So the Lebron stuff is political.... Ok understood.

I didn't like that, either, but it's also been over a decade since that happened, and he has already resolved that situation with Cleveland fans. Cleveland is a garbage organization run by a trashy owner, and it's hard to blame Lebron for leaving. I don't think this would have created near as much animosity if he weren't so good -- which is my original point. Nobody hates Lamarcus Aldridge for leaving Portland (or Kemba, Hayward, Kahwhi, Butler, or the 12 million others).

I agree that I hate his stance with China, but that's not just a Lebron thing -- that's the entire NBA from Adam Silver down (and several other powerful companies including Nike). 99% of Lebron haters were already Lebron haters before that happened. Which NBA players came out and denounced Lebron and defended Morey? Not even Morey defended Morey. If you're going to dislike Lebron for his stance, I have no issue with that, but you need to generalize this complaint to the entire league.

The problem with that is LBJ is the guy who moves the needle. A word of support for Morey from the King registers louder than being denounced by the rest of the Association.

It's one of the few missteps in a really good PR career.

To be clear.... we are talking about supporting or not supporting protestors in Hong Kong?

I don’t care if it’s been over a decade, it’s a reason I don’t like him as a player. I completely understand him leaving, but having an hour long show to announce you were leaving seemed wrong. Also don’t like how he joined a super team. Kawhi caught a ton of slack, rightfully so, with how he left SA. Butler was considered the problem in Minnesota & Philly to an extent, even though people realized eventually he wasn’t the problem.

The China thing was worse for LeBron than the rest of the NBA players because he takes so many stances & voices his opinion on everything, but when it came to hurting his earnings he fell silent. And yes, I do dislike the NBA organization’s decision to not speak out against China.

Paul George made an entire documentary to announce his decision. I rolled my eyes at the show as well, but the 21st century is different than the 20th.

Of what I would consider the top 10 in the NBA, most have done something similar. Lebron, KD, Harden, Kawhi, AD. In the next 5-10 players, you have guys like PG, Butler, and Kyrie.

I'm disgusted with the NBA for how it bowed to China, which Lebron was a big part of. It kneecapped any notion that the NBA actually cared about social justice when any amount of actual courage is required.

That's not why people hate Lebron, though. The Lebron haters already hated him before that and are now using that retroactively to justify how they already felt.

They claim it's because he ditched his piece-of-**** franchise and owner for greener pastures, yet those same people don't hate Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, Paul George, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, Gordon Hayward, Al Horford, Lamarcus Aldridge, or Kemba Walker.

They hate Lebron for the same reason they hate Tom Brady, Nick Saban, and any other person in sports that is even remotely as dominant. They're just so MFing good. And that's okay...but just be honest.

you are wrong here ... but .either way this is my last word on this topic

Lebron is much LESS hated now then when he went to miami which kills your argument ..

I always respect your points Boulder, but I strongly disagree here. When LBJ made the Decision, he was hated by basketball fans. The general public didn't know, and didn't care. You look at the hate he gets now, and it's mostly because of political and social opinions. BEFORE he spoke about China, half of the Nation began to speak out about him because he gave an opinion on the election, and on police brutality. Remember shut up and dribble, and all of the fall out after he spoke negative of the right during the election....

LBJ is pretty controlling and arrogant, but so are 99% of the top ten athletes in any given major sport. Kobe was more of a villain during his prime, but became a pretty big fan favorite later in his career. The current political climate of my side good, the other side bad has also leaked into sports. There are numerous athletes who we all could easily justify hating, but not many get the hate LBJ does. I follow multiple Laker pages, and there are more people who invade those groups to give mostly hot takes and political opinions on him, than there are actual basketball fans.....

I recently wore a Laker hoodie to my job in Yukon, OK. I work with kids between the ages of 6-18. I had a 10 yr old kid tell me I should take my hoodie off, and when I asked why, thinking his family are probably Thunder fans, he said because my Dad said that guy on their team hates America, and he's a racist. This kid knows zero about any sport other than OU football, yet his family is spending time ripping LBJ on a political level... That is mostly what I get in Oklahoma...

Appreciate you being able to have that view.

Seems like most fans, if somebody is on their team, they are 100% behind them.

It's okay to not like somebody on a personal level that plays for your favorite team. I'm a Celtics fan. I never liked Kyrie. When they were in the running for Durant, I was hoping he wouldn't end up there. When Marcus Smart first ended up there.....couldn't stand the guy. He's grown some though.

Just because other people do it doesn't mean I only dislike it when Lebron does it, I disliked a ton of players moves. I feel like players should leave if they want, but how some of them leave is what makes me dislike the move. We are talking about Lebron, if you want my opinion on anyone else I'll give it.
