Man, I fell asleep on recruiting. I didn't realize that he committed to A&M on March 10. Now, A&M has Robinson and Obaseki, big OU targets.

Trey Alexander...come on down!!! If we can get Alexander and a quality post...add Bijan to that and another quality player...and we'll be in good shape!

It was a tough blow. Cvangild mentioned, it is critical that we land Alexander. If we don’t get him then it will be a colossal failure by Lon and staff. Cortes is a nice ancillary piece, but we need some stars in this class.

not sure alexander is coming...

Cant make kids stay in state. just like Milton and thompson...

Wonder how much he got

LSU giving kids $150K, and they don’t even like basketball

Hey, it’s ok. We don’t need to compete for talented players. Haven’t you heard? We finished 3rd in the big12 man! We don’t need to win any conference titles. We’ll leave that to everyone else. We’re just happy to make the tourney. Anything else is gravy. We’re content to make the final four every 15-20 years. We’ve never won it all, but why should we try to do that?

Everything is just fine. We don’t need to be any better than we’ve always been.

Yes, it is fine considering our level of fan support and investment. You want to compete with duke and Kentucky? Then you better start dumping stacks into the program and unleash our bagmen, too.

At this point I just want to compete with Baylor.

I'd rather play for Buzz, too.

Who wouldn't want to play for him vs. Lon? He has all the things we want in a coach especially compared to Lon.

He has a better career winning percentage, consistently finishes higher in his conference and wins titles, consistently goes to the tournament more, has recruited & produced a ton more NBA players than Lon, and goes to a school and stays at it for the long haul.

Oh, wait, none of those are true.

But at least he gets emotional on the sideline, can get people excited when he talks, and he dresses modern. That's what we need.

I am not sure if Alexander is coming or not either, but singling out two recruits that due to circumstances we had no chance isn't evidence we can't recruit in state. We had two players on our roster last year that were OK kids that are in the top 35 scorers in program history, we had a MCDAA in Trae, and of this moment have a top 150 commit in Cortes. That is just the last 4 years.

With Thompson's family ties to Self, we had no chance. With Larry Brown's shadiness and cheating, probably had no fair chance at Milton, plus the team was loaded at his position in 2015.

Could recruit better? Sure. But picking out two we lost doesn't negate the wins.

OU has been at least on par with Baylor since Lon got here. Baylor was awesome last year but they haven’t made any finals 4s nor have they made the tournament as many times as ou since Lon has been in norman.

Lon needs to step it up on ‘21 recruiting big time but to this point he has done a really solid job at ou. While he has been mediocre in conference, he has been exceptional out of conference. He has done a really solid job in the NCAA tournament too.

When abd said he wants to compete with Baylor he is obviously pointing to the Baylor of today and not years ago. If this is an accurate depiction of his viewpoint then comparing Lon's career versus Baylor's is a moot point because he is talking about the now and not the then.

My mistake it is a tie at 6 appearances a piece. Again, OU and Baylor have had very similar success since ou hired lon. That doesn’t account for the fact that Lon took over a blazing dumpster fire while drew had already established his program. In that sense, Lon has done better at ou during the time frame.

Baylor is going to come back to earth bigly next year. U can’t just cherry pick a year. If that’s the case, I will select the year ou went to the final four and Baylor cannot compete w that.

It is not about cherry picking though. It is the now versus the then. He might see Baylor is in an upswing and would like his team to do just the same. All I tried to do was shed some light on what he was likely stating and nothing more.

Yup, you have it all figured out. The only reason anybody would want to play for the guy that recently brought VT to it's first Sweet 16 since 1967 (and second time ever) is the way he dresses.

Everybody has a right to make ignorant statements on this message board, but you're expressing that right a little too freely.

Manek and doo turned out ok as well.

Curious why?

Buzz been to elite 8 1 time

Couple sweet 16’s

Best finish was 5th in ACC, 6th in SEC, 2 good years in Big East (T-1, 2nd) followed by a 6th (Lon gets killed for that)
