I'm very happy we're riding a four game win streak, but I'm still not sold on Jeff Capel being the long term solution at head coach. I'll stick to my guns on that topic.

However, it's nice to see the team play with spirit and determination. Two games in a row now we've had a chance to fold, but the guys found a way to win. That's very impressive and I'd like to see them somehow finish with a winning record. If we find away to go 4-5 down the stretch, that would give us a regular season record of 16-14. That would guarantee a winning season regardless of what happened in the conference tourney. Now, where are we going to find those four wins? Here's how I see the schedule:

Guaranteed wins: None
Likely wins: Nebraska
Guaranteed losses: Texas, @ Missouri, Kansas
Likely losses: @ Kansas State, @ Texas A&M
Tossups: @ OSU, @ Texas Tech, OSU

In my opinion, our best chance of finishing with a winning season is sweeping Bedlam, beating Nebraska, and finding a way to win in Lubbock. It's going to be tough, but at least we can take solace in the fact that three wins gives us a .500 record.

I'm not sure what you were looking for when you decided Capel shouldn't be the coach, but this team has looked much better that last few games. Shouldn't he get some credit for that? Baylor has a better team than us and we beat them. I'm not sure what else Capel should be doing.

I guarantee you they are nervous in Stillwater right now.

Maybe it's my fault for prefacing my post with that statement, but I don't want this thread to be about Capel's future. I just wanted people to know that I'm not front running and still have my doubts. Instead, let's focus on different scenarios that could get us to 16 wins.

I do not think Texas is a guaranteed loss.
Nor do I think @ Missouri is.
Call me crazy.

Yep. Just gotta man up and give the guy some credit for doing everything right lately.

In my opinion this is poorly timed. At this point Capel and the team deserve credit not criticism.

Amazing win streak and that says a lot about everyone in the program. I'm convinced Jeff can coach the game of basketball at a high level. Unless Joe C wants to throw a few million at a big name then Jeff is the fastest way back to OU being a top 15 program, assuming he has learned from the situation. The relationships he is building with future high school seniors seems the best way to build a program. Hopefully he has learned not to chase too many McD types without having d1 players to fill those positions if he strikes out.
