Been bugging me all day that we couldn't at least hang with Texas for a decent stretch of game since we had a lot of folks in the stands. It would have been a great opportunity to start to build the fanbase back up (especially the students). I heard there were around 5 sections of students there last night on top of the folks on the floor.

That crowd would have gone bananas if we had given them a game. sigh....

I agree. Early in the game, we had our chances. They either missed shots or made turnovers but we couldn't convert on the other end to cut into the lead. So, it seemed like it just hovered around 10-12 for most of the first half, then Texas stretched it to 16 by halftime.

As I was watching the game, I knew once Texas withstood that 5-8 minutes of us not cutting into the lead they were going to win handily. It seemed like the crowd was just waiting for something to get them going but it never happened.

This.

It may be years before we ever have the general student body that into a game again, smh. Like I've said in several other threads that's the only reason I'm disappointed about last night.

I honestly think anyone complaining about the crowd the last 2 years has no real argument. The product we've had on the court for one reason or another isn't worth going to every game. When we had Blake I bet we had pretty full crowds most games. Maybe I can go back and look but I bet the threads complaining about crowds here were fewer and far between, especially when the season gets going.

But the last 2 years the teams just aren't that good, so the support will be lower for it. It's even true in football at OU. We probably averaged 50-60k a game for most of the mid to late 90s for football. Compared to over 80k most of the last decade.

Gotta have the horses to compete in the race,Texas had thorobreds,we have Shetlands.

The way I see it is. The crowd is willing to show up in full force if the price is right. Obviously, nothing is better than free but there has got to be a better middle ground.

As far as the students go, you Capelables are doing an amazing job! It is so fun to watch and can only be contageous to other students. You all are doing your part! I wish it was around when I was in school.

It would be nice if we get these crowds for OSU and NEB. We actually need it for the KU game as well b/c I bet we have recruits come in for that game.

For the love of pete, I hope not. KU may have more fans at that game than us, and it will be just as ugly as Wednesday nights game. We should try to move that game to the fieldhouse to prevent many KU fans from getting entrance.

You rather have recruits come to a game with a pack house where we lose by 20 than have recruits come to an empty house where we win by 20.

Not if they are also being recruited by the school who beat us by 20 (Perry Ellis).

Maybe we should put a bunch of blow-up dolls in the seats for the NU game or something and pipe-in crowd noise. :ez-laugh:
