I have heard so many things on Gabriel I’m not sure where the truth of what happen really lies

I will be curious to see how the quality of talent in the portal changes as the playoffs wear on. There may yet be some more big names jump in after their teams lose. We do need to grab some quality wideouts though, and I’m not in love with the thought of Jerand Bradley being one of our guys

Playing time? I can’t follow these arguments. We’ve spent the last three months hearing how good these guys are and how much we miss them and how it’s impossible to win when you are missing your top five WRs, but now you’re suggesting some of them are leaving in part because they don’t think they’ll get playing time?

To say you can't follow the logic is an insult to your own intelligence, as it isn't hard to follow. WR5 is going to get more playing time as WR2 at another school. Pretty easy.

Well, if you were WR5 this season, you would have been in line to be WR2 or 3 next season once the first couple guys announced they were leaving. And I’ll be surprised if Burks stays. Brent claims Gibson will be back but at this point, Brent’s words are just white noise.

As for Gabriel, even if he was planning to leave had he gotten a better draft grade, a head coach has to realize all along that there is a possibility he will end up coming back. It happens all the time when guys test the waters. As soon as Gabriel indicated that he wasn’t turning pro, he should have been the absolute top priority for Brent. Instead, he clearly thought Arnold was more than capable of stepping in and being as good or better from day one. It was a massive miscalculation.

I like that Brent is willing to fire coaches and bench players. He loves this program. It was a bad year but we still have the second longest bowl eligibility streak . We have one of the best ads in the country. Let's see this play out. It's encouraging that we have these 2 new coaches and alot of young talent on offensive line. They made bad evaluations on offensive transfers. All the injuries did not help in first year of sec. I'm hopeful.

lol. According to who? Oui scoop

Kid never visited
So … you’re more than happy to preach the scoop gospel if Lusk or someone else is hyping the program, but apparently are selective about when you choose to believe them?

And who says that a kid isn’t a target just because he doesn’t visit?

I like Brent but the fact that he fired an OC after a handful of games does not make him look good. Next season is not (so far) looking cheery either.

It also shouldn’t be hard to not have one of the worst offenses in history when you coach at OU, but here we are.

Curious, how many impact transfers has Brent brought in over his three years, especially on offense? One comes to mind and he will be at the Heisman ceremony tomorrow, but Brent mismanaged the roster so badly that he didn’t stick around. I have no idea how anyone can feel like we are likely to end up with a bunch of great WRs.
We couldn't have kept DG even if we wanted to. You know what oregon is doing right?

They were speaking as if 2023 was DG's final season before that season began. There was not attempt to retain him. They had their much ballyhooed five-star in JA. I think if they'd told DG early on they wanted him to lead them into the SEC and backed it up with some cash, he'd have stayed. He only went shopping because OU had not shown any interest in his return. And when they finally did (if they ever did), it was too late.

I was calling out that decision long before the 2023 season ended. The last thing I wanted was for us to enter the SEC with an inexperienced sophomore QB. I thought that was a recipe for disaster even before all the WR and OL injuries. Unfortunately, I was right. I dearly wish I'd been wrong.
Most of this is wrong. No chance at keeping DG bc oregon

It wasn't his choice to hire littrell in the first place which is embarrassing and the biggest problem with ou football (Joe c)

I agree. It was not a good hire by Brent or maybe just not a good fit. Stoops was much more reluctant to make changes. It's early. We will see. Kinda like Porter, his time is getting short. Hope they can get some good players in the portal, it's still early.

I don’t pay for scoop or oui or thune and dude.

Sure was he one the reported list? Yes

You or I have no clue if he was the top target.

Once again. Tech paying folks these days. It’s a $ game 7x out of 10

If it wasn’t his choice he should have resigned. You don’t take a job to let other people do it for you. On him either way.

Couldn’t wait to hear this. It’s laughable at this point. Every time we miss a guy in every sport, you point to money whether there is any evidence or not. I mean, I can agree that our basketball program might not be able to match offers with Kentucky for Garrison. But OU football not being able to match Texas Tech?!? In the most recent pod, Gabe and Teddy agreed that their sources have said our football program is in very good shape when it comes to NIL. They said not on the level of a Bama or OSU, obviously, but in good shape overall. So I will never believe that every time we lose a player, it is a money issue.

I have no idea who your source is and don’t mean to question you personally, but I’ve not seen this rumor reported anywhere. Brent has shown a strong tendency to want to hire and people OU guys, so it seems very much like hiring Seth would have been his call.
