OT: Football Talk

People like you… it’s sc fault. It’s med staff. It’s nutrition folks. Literally every year.

Bunch of clowns
Look at how arrogant you are. When you disagree with someone, it’s because they can’t possibly know as much as you. You think you have so much inside info and are so much smarter than us because you blindly support the program rather than acknowledging when things are off the rails. Anyone who questions things is a “troll” or “fool.” To be clear, this mess is the fault of one person. He is the guy paid to coach the team and make good decisions for the program. When unqualified assistants are hired and retained despite years of bad performance, it’s on Brent. When roster spots are mismanaged, it’s on Brent. When the same game management mistakes happen for three years, it’s on Brent. When a team routinely fails to identify who their best options are at certain positions till halfway through the season, it’s on Brent.

It’s 💯 on BV. NO ONE IS SAYING IT ISNT.

So he was very impactful yet now he’s one of the guys that people are acting like will be very easy to replace. I can’t keep up.

If you truly don't have the cognitive ability to keep up, I'm surprised you know how to use your computer and type full sentences.

Andrel was great for us as a legitimate WR1 until he went down with injury. He hasn't been the same post-injury. Pretty simple.

Well, if you were WR5 this season, you would have been in line to be WR2 or 3 next season once the first couple guys announced they were leaving. And I’ll be surprised if Burks stays. Brent claims Gibson will be back but at this point, Brent’s words are just white noise.

If Burks leaves, I'll admit it's a big loss. I expected him to turn pro from everything I'd heard, but last I heard, BV pulled off another Stutsman/Bowman move. I won't pretend to know for a fact he's returning, but I'd definitely put his odds significantly >50% at this point. If I had to choose between returning Burks vs WR2-5, I wouldn't hesitate to pick Burks over the other 4 combined (Gibson included).

Nic was the only other one that was truly special. Not All-American candidate like Burks, but definitely NFL guy. He could never seem to stay on the field, though, so it's tough to pay him big money. Keeping his brother around until his final season worked out well, but we didn't have to write him a check for anywhere near 1M. This is the only one that stings, and the one I've alluded to as probably not being able to keep even if we matched offers for NIL/playing time.

Farooq is the definition of WR3/4. Nice to have, but paying him big money would be a mistake. I wanted to keep him, but I have no doubt we can land a WR2 in the portal I like more.

Anthony was cooked.

I honestly don't have big expectations for Gibson. Even if he fully recovers, he's probably WR4/5. I expect a transfer to be WR2 along with one of our freshmen (Ragins or Kearney) taking WR3.

Oh I can keep up. You guys change your arguments to avoid calling a spade a spade. Our program is hemorrhaging talent but now people want to pretend everything is fine.

It wasn't his choice to hire littrell in the first place which is embarrassing and the biggest problem with ou football (Joe c)
I've heard from several people that the Littrell hire was pushed harder by Harroz than anyone else.

And don't let anyone fool you: our plans were 100% tied to Arnold. The fear of him bailing instead of sitting behind Gabriel another year set everything in motion. Sure, DG wasn't thrilled with his draft grade, but don't overlook the mess that came out of that "meeting" at Brent's house.

Anthony was never right post surgery. What was weird is how cloak and dagger the program was about it. The cleanup procedure in August was as hush-hush as the launch codes.

I've heard Harroz rumors way after the fact, but I'm not sure it makes sense. I think we were all on board to do what it took to keep Arnold, and 99% of our fanbase preferred him over Gabriel. Many weren't stoked about Littrell, but if Arnold had been the dude he was supposed to have been, it would have been a great move. Littrell had decent success elsewhere, kept our QB, and kept continuity as a whole. There's a lot to like there, and if our offense had looked even remotely like it did the year prior, we'd be in the playoffs and licking our chops at a chance to play most of these teams.

If I'm being completely honest, I still bet Arnold looks comparable if not better than Caleb in practice. He just didn't have that gamer gene when the lights came on.

The whole team was negative?? lol

Who? Name the key players leaving? Hemorrhaging means a lot…. Give me a lot
Again, you guys want to have it both way. For three months, the excuse was “how can you expect us to have a good season when we are missing five good/great receivers?” So either those guys were never good in the first place and you were just making excuses for a comically bad offense, or they are, in fact, good and you are now trying to downplay their departures.

To be clear, I personally think and have thought all along that some of the WRs are a bit overhyped. But they were the best WRs on our roster, so losing them isn’t a good thing unless you replace them with better players. In three years that Brent has been here, our talent level at every position has gotten significantly worse. That’s not even debatable. We went from having NFL players at every position when he arrived (thanks to the prior staff) to having one of the worst offenses in America this year. Given that trend, why should anyone trust that he will all of a sudden be able to reverse that trend and bring in a handful of high level WRs? And don’t just reply that there are “plenty of good players in the portal.” That’s not the question. The question is if any/many of them will come to OU.

The secretive part of thing is interesting to me. Brent seemed to be actively positioning himself as the anti-Riley when he took the job. Allowed media to watch some practices. Gave his long-winded speeches at news conferences. Always wanted to come across as friendly and accessible. But over the past year or so, there has been nothing tons of misdirection when it comes to injuries and health updates. Days before the opener, the man stood in front of the media and said everyone but one guy (I can’t even remember who) was more or less healthy, which obviously was a complete lie. Then once the season was underway, they kept acting like the WRs were close to returning. Who can forget the infamous quote about guys “running around” at practice?

Yall are really really unintelligent if you think Joe c and Harroz are forcing coaching decisions.

Like idiotic level thinking here

It’s not even worth discussing further if you really think that.

Answer my question…. Who are we hemorrhaging? I’ll wait
