Vegas had 22, all in the second half? Jo had 18 with 17 boards.

We played a sloppy game. We had 21 turnovers, 7 on Hook.,

Great game McFarland. Team will need to play much better to beat ucla

Yeah, Morgan had one of her worst games in a long while IMO. Hopefully, we'll reduce the turnovers next game.

Morgan was not very good today -- and that's being kind.

Just once, I'd like us to have a game where we have less than 15 turnovers and all of our girls hitting from the get-go all game and rebounding like monsters.

Oh, and not letting a player score 20-plus points on us.

We are long overdue for that, and my guess is we better have it the next game if we face UCLA.

Best coaching move of the year was Sherri yanking Hook to the bench for about 10 minutes after she turned the ball over like 4 straight times when it was tight well into the second half.

I don't where that girl's head was today.

They had11 fast break points to our 9; 19 points off turnovers to our 10; and 30 points in the paint to our 26. How strange! We have a HUGE height advantage and they score more points in the paint. We have no defense against quick penetrators. Vegas is our quickest player. I had hopes for Sharane but apparently they had no trouble going around her or anyone else much. I could see it coming and cringe. Very glad we won but wonder how. UCLA will probably eat us alive unless we decide to play our very best game of the year.

Let's look at some of the positives.

Central Michigan shoots 41.8% from the field. Today, it was 31%.

Central Michigan holds opponents to 29.9% from three. Today, we shot 47.4%,
Central Michigan does usually force turnovers. OK, I'm not sure that most of those were forced today. But, we did turn it over. Morgan seemed indecisive today.

OK. So Bradford had a career day. Still, they scored one point fewer than they usually do. Schroll, usually a good shooter who scores 11 was two of eleven for four points. Johnson was one of thirteen for six points!!!

If you haven't looked at their schedule, these were interesting scores:

88 South Dakota State 62
63 Notre Dame 72
98 St. Josephs 84 St. Joes gave Vandy trouble today.
73 Texas 65 at Texas

That is all good, but anytime you get 31 more shots than your opponent and lose you did not have a very good day, and anytime you give your opponent 31 more shots than you and win, you had a very good or very luck day. That will get you beat at least 8-10 times. Got to get better next game.

They quoted Coale during the broadcast saying "it's not uncommon for us to have 20 turnovers with the style we play" They made it sound like this was some how expected or okay?? If she's going to run this offense no matter what, we need great ball handlers and a few more athletic types. I hope the future recruiting classes have this, but I don't see it.

I guess maybe I'm looking at this a little differently. Yes, we didn't play our best game as a team. Morgan had one of her rare poor performances. Yet, Jo played beautifully. Nicole came off the bench and I thought played very decent defense, rebounded well, and knocked down some pressure shots that we needed in the first half. We obviously have got to fix our rebounding problem and block out, but at the end of the day, we are moving on to the next round. I'll worry about that on Monday, I'm going to enjoy this win and see where these kids take us in the next round. Maybe they fall on their face, maybe they exact revenge, still got to play the game. Boomer Sooner.

So, I hadn't had a chance to look at the box score. We hold them to 31 per cent shooting, 24 from the three, they only shoot 68 per cent from the line and we out rebounded them 48 to 43. Really the two glaring stats that we really need to clean up on is offensive rebounding defense, they got 12 more than us, and of course turnovers. Thank goodness we played pretty good defense because we gave them 17 more free opportunities off our turnovers. I'm actually feeling a little better about our performance.

Totally agree. You gotta be happy to win and move on and work on the problems for the next game. We'll have to play much better on the boards (except Jo!) to win Monday.

I agree with you completely my concern is who else do we have? That reminded me for some reason of player improvement! We have a 6-6 center who has been playing since she was a Freshman and today she had 3-----count them 3 rebounds. Who has been working with her for three years? Reminds me of turnovers. Style of play causing turnovers is pure BS players and coaches cause turnovers, or allow them. Anyway enough of that hope we win and get back to OKC.

You can't judge any player's improvement or lack of improvement on the box score from one game. Anyone who has watched Nicole over the last three years knows that she has improved a lot.

Hope we beat UCLA, but it would be a big upset if we do??

First I may not understand the game the way you do but I did watch it! There is a replay available so you could watch it and categorize the reason for each of the 24 turnovers. I am sure at least 23 were caused by our "style of play".

Second Nicole has improved greatly. My concern is not with her it is that someone in three years should have been able to "coach" her a little better on rebounding. She is not Jo who simply knows how to do it, but with some coaching she should be able to improve.

This team wins, I apparently do not understand how, although even Sherri says she doesn't know how. However they do it I hope they keep doing it.

I'll be the first to admit that she was my favorite whipping girl. I don't know what you want her to be "coached" to do but someone has done a very good job with her. Her improvement from last year is amazing. Look at her offensive game. Those low post moves came from somewhere. Last year she didn't scorer on those up and unders and shots across the lane. Her rebounding? You can only do so much with her. Although 6'6" she's not exactly the biggest and strongest one out there and she jumps as high as she's going to jump. She does a good job on positioning and her desire is second to none. I've seen her get some tough rebounds and keep her composure while getting hacked to death. Probably what I've noticed the most is her toughness. She's willing to stick her nose in there and go at it with anyone. Her defense is much better and she's done a really good job on shot blocking without fouling.

I think she's done a great job and hope that she'll get even better next year. She didn't just wake up one day and was better. This was a combination of her hard work and some very good instruction. Everyone learns at a different pace and matures and grows differently. Some kids come in as freshmen and don't get any better. Is that coaching too?

News flash, gang! We won the game! We're advancing to the next round! One would not get that impression from all you nattering nabobs of negativity.
