OU fights for state bragging rights

Oklahoma (5-2) has won seven of the last nine games against in-state opponents since Kruger took over in Norman. The Sooners are playing the three major in-state schools (Tulsa, Oral Roberts and Oklahoma State) for the first time since 2005, when Oklahoma won all four games.

I know some disagree, but I enjoy playing the Tulsa teams (Tulsa, ORU) and a continuing annual series against both teams would be a good idea, IMHO. Playing a game in Tulsa each year is a win-win proposition. It is an easy road trip for the team. It gives OU fans that live in Tulsa a chance to support the team in person. Games in Tulsa are played in less of a "hostile road environment" as many Sooner fans will attend the games.

The argument that "OU has nothing to gain" by playing road games in Tulsa is short-sighted, IMHO. There are a bunch of Sooner fans in Tulsa, and the occasional high-level recruit is produced by Tulsa-area high schools. OU can gain a lot of goodwill by playing games in Tulsa on a regular basis.

Also, the Tulsa teams provide more interesting foes when they play in Norman, compared to many of the other teams that come into the LNC.

OU should play the following teams every season:

  • Tulsa
  • ORU
  • North Texas
  • Arkansas
  • SMU
  • Texas A&M

a game in dallas every other year at SMU is a good idea .. no reason to ever play at college station

Looks good to me, but agree, no reason to go to college station every other year. They wanted to leave and run away, good riddance

Except the game is in Houston, which should be a primary recruiting pipeline for OU and the Sooners are 31-10 all-time against them. OU dominates A&M in everything.

We can play the Krispies in Houston. No need to acknowledge "the cult" in collie station.
