OU is 2-13 in last 15 games

If you can't win 10 games in modern college basketball it's a pretty pathetic team. I don't see 10 wins this year.

Billy's first team was fairly bad, which made him say (paraphrased) 'this year we are going to run and shoot. Next year we'll run and score"

Although our record will probably be worse, I don't think this team is as bad as Capel's last season. That season was a cluster. This season has defintely been a surprise. I knew there would be a drop off, and that even making the tourney wasn't a given...but I never would have guessed we would be where we are currently.

Not sure I have seen a team do so poorly in close games. 1-8 in games 5 points or less. At least 3-4 of those are games were lost in the last minute when we had decent leads and would win 90% of the time. EVERYTHING had do go wrong for us to lose those..and that's exactly what happened. I mean in the UT game, a dude (E. Davis) who was/is shooting 26% from the 3 pt line, hits FIVE 3's against, with one of them being in the last 20 secs of the game!!! This same kid has only hit 1-12 from 3's in recent games. Talk about a blind squirrel finding a effin acorn!!! Yes, we made some stupid to's at the end and missed some crital FT's late, but they also had guys play way above their head. That's just BAD LUCK!!!!!!!

Once a team (especially a young team) losses several games in a row (especially the 3 games we lead with under a minute and all but had it put away), then you are battling a huge confidence issue. It can go in so many directions.

Now we have had a few stinkers (Bay, Florida primarily), but pretty much the rest of our losses, we have been competitive and could have easily won several of those if we caught some breaks here or there. We were up 9 at half against KU, which proves that this team can play well in spurts against even the best teams in the country..but we haven't been able to close the deal...for SEVERAL reasons. We may end up 10-20, but it wouldn't surprise me at all that if Trae chooses to stay home, we could win 20+ games next year.

It's usually never as bad as you think it is...and I believe that for this season. If you could add a 5 Star PG who should instantly provide a rush of confidence to the team with his ability to makes those around him better. Luckily for us, that particular 5 Star happens to be in our back yard and knows this team and coaches very well and realizes that very thing. Hopefully, he chooses to stay home and put us back where we belong!!!

Has it ever been this bad?

Capel's 2010 team had a 3-15 record to finish the season, losing 9 straight at the end. That team had THREE McDonald's All Americans on the roster, not to mention a pretty darned good supporting cast that included Steven Pledger, Tony Crocker, Cade Davis and Ryan Wright, to name some of the better known players back then.

If this year's team doesn't win another game, both of Capel's last two seasons will be worse as far as I'm concerned. The 2010 and 2011 seasons were two of the worst in OU basketball history. Check the record book and you'll see what I mean.

I know you were aware of the in fighting among teammates during that period that involved one embarrassing incident after another on the court and off of the court, because you were on the staff here during those two seasons.

My point is that the team record doesn't always tell the complete story. IMO, those two years were far worse than anything we have experienced this season. I'm not downplaying our dismal record or the season we're having. I'm as disappointed as anyone, and more so than most. My gut aches with every painful loss. But, given the choice between losing 13 of the last 15 games this year and the last two seasons of Capel's time at OU, I will gladly take the season we're in right now. Anyone who thinks this season is worse has a short memory.

EDIT: Guess I need to check the last post on a thread before I share my thoughts on a topic. I had no idea cvangild and I were on the same page about Capel's last two years.

I don't compare those teams to that one. Those years were far worse, no question.

This team is almost assuredly going to finish 2-21 to end the season. Let that sink in for a moment.

Right now this "team" is somewhere below pathetic.

No. Bad yes. Pathetic no.

People see a bad record and automatically think the team is pathetic even if they haven't watched a game.

But those that have watched, see a young team that has been in just about every game against very good competition.

There isn't an off night in this conference. Even Tech and TCU are good teams this year.

We hang with them for 80% of the game and then lose it. The team has fight, they are just fighting an uphill battle

You're responding to a poster who hasn't had a good thing to say about the team, Lon Kruger or our players the entire season. Don't believe me, check his posting history.

He's been a member here since July, 2015. Do you Find it odd that he didn't post last season when OU was in a run to the final four? No, he waited until a season gone bad was in full swing to show up every night with his clever quips and constant negativity. This has been one of the worst seasons in OU history to be sure. Still, it's impossible to find something positive if you look hard enough.

That's the description of a troll or a poster with a personal axe to grind. Since he has shared a portion of the negativity he spews with the women's forum, I'm betting he's a troll.
