Three of their losses have come by four or fewer points, all at home (lost by two to Tennessee Tech, by two to Rice and by four to Central Michigan).

He has attempted 64 free throws, almost twice as many as the Islander with the second-most attempts, and is shooting .452 from the field. Freshman forward Jeff Beverly averages 11.0 points and 3.6 boards per game and boasts shooting percentages of .508 from the field, .462 from 3-point range (6-for-13) and .794 from the foul line. He is coming off a 20-point effort (in 28 minutes) in an 11-point loss to Houston. Former longtime Rice mentor Willis Wilson is in his third year as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s head coach and is 15-53 there. Wilson served as Rice’s head coach for 16 years (1992-93 through 2007-08 seasons) and compiled a 219-246 record. In between, he served the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons as an assistant coach at Memphis.
