+++++++OU vs. Baylor Gameday Thread+++++++

Isn't that the truth. It is almost as if they are trying to think up different ways to fold at the end. All you can do is shake your head. But, this game was a drastic improvement over the first game against Rape U.

So true. At least they didn't just lay down for them. They fought hard and when we needed the points we just couldn't cash in. Very gritty team in the second half.

I know we're getting some better..I don't recall anyone stepping out of bounds with the ball. But some of the mistakes they seem to make over and over in every game.

We just didn't have anybody else show up to score tonight. If we had guys step up and do that we just might have won the game. If they could all get in the same flow, this team would be hard to beat day in, day out.

Definitely a rough end of the game. Two things 1. that was the #9 team in the country that we played on their court who was projected to beat us by 16. 2. that 1-3-1 and man to man switch that moved to at the end of the game stumped us. We didn't know how to attack.

I love Mcgusty's game, but he has to learn to want the ball at the end of the games. He reminds me of buddy his junior year (when we lost a lot of close games) he disappears. Was surprised he didn't come grab the ball and attack. This is where I think Trae young will thrive.

He also needs to learn not to try a 3 point shot with Wainwright in his grill. That was a horrible shot.

So we lost by single digits on the road vs a top 10 team without our senior point guard that blew us out at home earlier in the year.

That's progress right?

I didn't get to watch the game

The hell kind of ending was that!!! Latin and strong should be kicked off the team and Kruger fired after that! Good god! Worst finish I have ever seen!
Burn down Lloyd Noble and salt the earth. We can't take any chances.

Question: I was watching the tail end of the game at a casino TV, (TV volume was down) but it looked like in the last 2 minutes or so, Baylor shot a free throw or two, then took the ball out of bounds. Was a T called against OU or a flagrant foul? Why'd they get the ball out of bounds after the made FT if there wasn't a T or a flagrant. Looking at the Box score, don't see anything that indicates either was called. Anybody help on this? Thanks...

They called an intentional foul on Lattin for fouling away from the ball.

Everyone was yelling foul foul for 20 seconds and instead of strong-moore making the foul on the ball. Lattin decided to take the foul and a intentional foul was called. Game over.

I don't think all the blame can go on Lattin, sometimes the OU guards have a hard time getting the ball into him

I agree. Our guards definitely struggled down the stretch. But the span I was talking about Lattin was mostly wondering around the 18 foot area. No mans land for him. Seemed as if he didn't know whether to set a screen or post up.

Speaking about fouling late, can anyone explain Kruger's rationale for leaving Strong in the game in that situation? Strong has 4 fouls, and clearly didn't want to foul out, so why is he in the game over Shephard?

We were so badly over-matched by Baylor that it's amazing we were in this at all. I get that DSM should have fouled, and I was just as confused as you guys when he didn't, but if any of you were at the game in Norman, you would be impressed that we were in it until the end. Baylor has better length, athleticism, and their zone gives us fits because we're not a great shooting team this year. The fact we were still in it shows that there has been some major growth by this team throughout the year.

This team is 3-9 in games decided by 6 points or less. In about half of those losses we had a lead with 2 minutes left. We have not learned how to finish. Is that because this team has a lot of slow studies, is it because Lon has not simplified the game plan down to the level that the players can grasp or do we merely have athletes instead of basketball players?

I am inclined to think these kids just do not have a good basketball mentality. They are slow to learn that when the going gets tough you step up and make things happen. We just do not have anyone that says give me the basketball and I will win this game. They continue to wait for their teammate to step up and Woodard is on the bench with his ACL injury.

We aren't winning basketball games at the end of games for two reasons 1. There isn't enough experience in these games to take it over and close. 2. There is some luck involved and it hasn't gone our way.

First, I have said this a couple of times on the board, but if everyone will think back to Buddy's soph and junior year. We lost a lot of close games. Buddy has this problem that he would seem to disappear in the close ones and wasn't aggressive. I think these guys are seeing what it takes to do so and I bet next year we will win more of these close ones. It is all confidence. These guys didn't make it to the next level because they aren't good ball players. Most of them in high school were scorers and knew how to take over games. Look up any of their stats. When you don't have confidence bad things happen. You start playing not to mess up, not to take control.

Second, luck is definitely involved as well. The Texas game is a prime example. The team is shooting under 30% and two guys who are mediocre 3 point shooters make two contested threes. That's is just tough.

Just my take on the whole deal.

Apparently it is when it's that blatant.

I wish ESPN showed us what he did to get the foul. Simon said Lattin should know better but somebody said all he did was pull Motley's jersey. IMO, if that's all he did why didn't the ref just ignore until it was something more blatant or just call it as a foul?

Speaking of the announcers. It annoyed the hell out of me that during most of the second half they ignored the game and talked about other stuff, including spending at least 30 minutes talking about Kansas. In fact, I think Shepherd hit a 3 to cut the lead to 2 and the announcers didn't say a word about it, just continued on some inane tangent.

I thought we did manage to hang closer than I thought heading into the game. We may have caught baylor on a off night but doesn't matter we didn't get blown away and on paper they should have done that again to us.

It's a pet peeve of mine how much time announcers spend talking about Kansas. I realize they're the class of the Big 12, mention it and move on. But most people tuning in to see Baylor and OU could not care less what's going on with KU.
