OU's still #1, it now or never Sooner fans!

So all you care about is aesthetics. Because you clearly haven't been inside the practice facilities (and by your own admission, you've only started paying attention to OU hoops again in recent weeks) and you haven't noted a single thing lacking in the practice facilities except you wish they were prettier and on the other side of the building.

Sorry, I see no substance in your "argument" (to the extent that it even qualifies as one), though your frequent use of head-slapping emojis certainly is compelling.

Meanwhile, OU's hoops program is doing significantly better than any of the programs (especially K-State and VCU, for pete's ake) you'd have us emulate.

You don't see the forest for the trees either.

You're ok with mediocre facilities, I'm not.

Wonderful.

But our facilities are far from mediocre. Are they the best? The standard bearers of college athletics? No.

But to call them mediocre is wrong. They are very good facilities and they are furnished nicely.

And to try and drum up a boatload of money in a state getting its clocked cleaned by 30-dollar oil is tone deaf.

$15M donation from a donor earned naming rights to new Georgia Tech areana. Total renovation cost was $45M. (If OU spent $17M plus expected $7M for two weight rooms, $24M.) Another $21M would have built this.

When it's back to $55 to $60, is that a green light? The payrolls and materials costs have reduced by 35% to 40% with this low demand and layoffs.

I'm patient, but draw up the plans and get the rendering online, so people can start donating TODAY! No loading dock or basement buildout project should earn another dollar, knowing OU spent $17M already per a poster here and there's another $7M planned for the same loading docks.

Georgia Tech is laughing. :facepalm

Georgia Tech hasn't been to the tournament since 2010 and hasn't been better than a 10 seed since 2005. And they opened their upgraded facility in 2012-2013. What's that done for them this year? Well, they're 11-8 and very likely to miss the tournament again.

No, they are laughing at OU for spending $17M plus another potential $7M on a facility in the docks and basement, while they only spent $45M to renovate the entire internal and external arena.

Spend your money where it counts through vision, planning and execution.

Sure. Sounds great. What do you figure that would cost? Conservatively $50,000,000?

Phase 1 - At least $30,000,000?
Phase 2 - Based on some very superficial google searching, a standard 5 story parking garage costs about $8.5M to build, but you're adding some curb appeal, so let's just call it $10,000,000.
Phase 3 - I'm not totally sure I understand what you're talking about there, but sounds like at least another $10,000,000?

That, of course, doesn't include the cost of dealing with a now obsolete $17,000,000 "loading dock" that's roughly 15 years old.

I respect the big dream, but crude sinking below $30/barrel that ain't happening any time soon.

Phase 1 - $22M
Phase 2 - $10M
Phase 3 - $8M

Total $40M. It doesn't have to be done anytime soon, but get the rendering online so fans can donate asap. You could raise $12M from the fans, if you market it correctly online, delta $28M.

OU had earmarked $7M for two weight rooms, so roll that into the mix.

$21M to go, which can be managed from the AD budget and bonds.

Do it in 2017, but get it online in 2016!
