OU's talent and coaching = square peg, round hole status!
Capel didn't recruit well to fit his system. I'm not sure what the system actually is at this point. He simply recruited bodies to fill a roster.
You can't do that in any sport.
Everyone is now boasting Romerso Osby, who only averaged 4 points a game at the collegiate level. Osby will add tremendous athletisism, but he isn't the second coming of Blake Griffin. This team needs more than just a Blake Griffin.
The horns exposed the lack of talent on OU's roster, and Cameron Clark is required to put this team on his shoulders with such limited experience. I'm sure CC will be fine down the road, but OU needs to find a roster full of CC types, talent-wise, to compete with Texas or KU, or any team consistently in the Big XII.
How do you turn around the Titanic on a dime in 2011?
This is going to take a couple of years of re-recruiting and building a team around a common system, and ensure those that sign LOIs fit that system.
P.S. And, those that believe otherwise just look to who is the face of this program, Cade Davis. He would be coming off the bench on most of the Top 15 teams in the nation. He has a tremendous heart and hustle, but OU's not expected to be good W/L-wise with this current roster make-up.
Something has got to change.
