PC West standout Neal commits to OU >>> The Oklahoman

And boom goes the dynamite!!!!!!!

I was really hoping to get Neal. I am glad he is becoming a sooner.

Aside from his strength in the paint and shooting range that stretches well beyond the 3-point line, Neal is a team player and good student, making him an ideal fit at OU right now.

He makes no impact next year.... This changes nothing... We still need a couple pg's and a couple centers... Looks like we will be signing 5 this spring totallying 7 for the year
I am thinking capel signed him in hopes to have a replacemEnt for Cade.... I def doubted Cade early on so I hope this kid proves me wrong like cade did

I agree. Glad we got a commit. Glad we've got what appears to be a good character guy. He's not going to change much next year besides maybe some spot minutes. Kyle Hardrick must go. I look for Neal to be a very solid player two to three years down the line.

We traded RW for Mr. Neal. From everything I have read about Neal I like that

I think this is a very good thing. First it indicates that we're going to recruit student/athletes and high character guys. Secondly, I am always a proponent of recruiting local kids. OU has had a great track record with local kids that were thought to be beneath an OU offer. Godbold, T. Griffin, Cade Davis are just a few of those type players for example. Also, it helps us out with the hybrid 4 position down the line and maybe in situations next year. When Fitz is getting abused by a quicker four, atleast Neal will be able to keep up somewhat.

This should be the first move and I hope there are atleast 6 more afterwards starting with two more transfers and four more signees.

I know everyone asks "what will he do on the court for us", but to me that's only part of the equation.

Here we have a kid who is most assuredly a good, no great, student. He worked and endured through lean times in order to build more of a winning tradition at PC West. Not to mention the fact that being a local with a love for OU suggests he has the foundation for the type of attitude we desperately need.

IMO Neal will make a difference in this program from day one. Off the court then On....and all of his influence will be a major positive for the C&C.

I have a friend who is a coach at PC West who just raves about this kid, both on and off the court.

I agree. This kid is exactly the medicine we needed for our current ailments. Welcome aboard Mr. Neal.:clap:clap

+1. The fact that he has good character and is a team player is really important. I'm glad we got him.

Plus, he was really good in the movie "Holes"

First, there is no way you can say this changes nothing with an absolute certainty. Your next sentence regarding the number of ships we have to give is right on target. So why not fill one (just one, not all five) of those spots with a nice kid, a great student, solid citizen and a good basketball player who has the ability to get better?

Everyone needs to understand that OU is coming late to the recruiting game in trying to fill so many voids on next year's roster. It's not like we have our pick of the cream of the crop at this late date. I think it would be a huge mistake to gamble on a recruit that could add to the public humiliation the program has suffered through this season. I would much rather have a local kid like Tyler Neal who will play hard for the university, his teammates and coaches, instead of himself for change.

Seems to be a solid 4-year kid. I know it probably doesn't help much for next year, but you need these types of kids if you want stability and deep runs in the tourney. Also, I find it funny when people rip on a kid for not being good enough to help out immediately, but when the tourney rolls around and you see some OK kid starting at a mid-major you wonder why OU didn't recruit him.

Does anyone really know for sure that Neal will be no help to the team next year? I realize it's rare for any player to make a huge impact in his freshman year, but some guys – and not just the ones ranked in the Top 50 – adjust to the college game sooner than others.

People said the same thing when Kelvin lost out on the guard who went to Oregon then KS offered the last ship to a little known player from OKC named David Godbold.

If you think back, Godbold started down the stretch of the 2005 season when KS won his only conference championship. In fact, Godbold had a huge game vs KU at home which was the pivotal win for the conference championship.

That Oregon Guard never did near as much as anyone thought he would do in college also. We were lucky to have Godbold instead.
