SIAP, however I didn't see it anywhere...Ellis will be in Norman on Saturday to watch the Sooners take on the Jayhawks.

Who's in charge of OU bball recruiting? He needs to be fired. Not that there is/was a great chance to land Ellis anways, but you just don't bring him in to watch a spanking. That's like the time they brought in Guerrero/Jurick...

If it's an unofficial visit, it's not like you tell a kid no. "Sorry Perry but the KU game is just not a good time for us. How about you come for OSU?"

You definitely don't bring him in for a game vs a foe that is just a few hours from his home who is going to win in a big blowout.

They should have asked him to come for the OSU game.

Haha...it's an unofficial vist, what are you going to do, deny him a ticket?

Even if you do that, he can call KU and they'll give him a spot behind their bench in player-guest.

Might as well let him do that, it'll be about the same thing.

This is exactly right. A recruit like Ellis has a standing invitation for any game he wants or can come down for. What you really don't want is him coming down for a game where half the building is empty. At least with KU in the house you can show him what a good OU crowd looks like.

Telling him not to come would be a death-wish in recruiting him.

I really think you guys are not considering the way many kids think these days. It's not like every kid that comes to Norman and see's KU beat us 80-50 is going to leave thinking "Man, KU is great. I want to be a part of that." A lot of them are going to think "Man, I might have to sit the bench if I go to KU, but I could start at OU and shoot 20 times per game."

There are lots of kids out there that would rather score 20 ppg at Florida International than be the 6th man at Duke. Or in our case they'd rather be Cameron Clark playing 38 mpg than Travis Relaford playing 10 mpg at KU.

Just because a discussion looks idiotic, it doesn't mean a guy is an idiot. I am not a dumb guy even if I play one on a message board. I don't think officially or unofficially hosting a kid for the Kansas is a smart move. Sue me. Cezar produced a comment after his visit about OU getting spanked (out of context). So I think my personal views are warranted. Why can't someone disagree without calling people stupid? Does it make you smarter? I bet you feel more important now.

This.

Anyways, myself and the rest of The Capelables will be sure to start a "Perry Ellis" chant and/or a "We Want Perry" chant, even though I believe it is technically a secondary violation every time a student section chants a recruit's name, lol.

That's one way to look at it. Or a kid could think, "hey if I go to OU, I have a great chance at the NBDL." I kid, somewhat.

We think alike, capelfan52. Scary, isn't it? lol

Seriously, that's the first thing I thought of when I read the OP's post. As others have said, it would be a mistake to turn him away if he wants to visit unofficially. You never know with kids like him who can pretty much have their pick of schools. He could just as easily see an opportunity to start as a freshman and be part of turning the program around. Maybe that's wishful thinking on our part. But we're definitely on the same page with this one.

I haven't followed Perry's recruitment (at all)...what seems to be his interest(s) in his future school...PT? Winning? Coach?

Not really directed at any particular person, Jesse. However, I do get tired of our fans taking a shot at our program between every breath. It gets old quickly to me.

And, let's be honest. OU has some pieces (albeit not many) for next year's squad. Plus, I'd assume he could see Osby workout. He MIGHT see that he could be a missing piece to a pretty decent team.

Oh, and heaven forbid, he MIGHT like Capel...:woot

Alright. You're right, I'm probably guiltier than most with the cheap shots here and there. I guess the losing is wearing on us all. When you see negative game in game out, it's easy to let that negativity rub off on you. I don't mean to be as argumentative as I was/am.

Like others are saying, maybe Ellis wants immediate time and sees that at OU.
