If this is the case, I would argue that we don't need another ball dominant guard. Shooters, shooters, shooters....and Garrison
Shooters definitely a priority but JM is turnover prone and we don’t have another PG on the roster once Uzan leaves. We absolutely have to find another, whether purely a backup or just a true PG who can play alongside JM.

Agreed we need a G who can take over the primary ball handling duties and shift JM to the 2. My concern is all these 6'3"- 6'4" guards are ball stoppers looking to get theirs.

Definitely agree. We need ball movement and spacing, which requires shooters. Moser has yet to sign a true knockdown shooter. He inherited Gibson and we have had a couple streaky shooters, but no one I would consider a pure shooter.

So you consider the unranked 6-2 kid a more likely candidate to play as a freshman than our top 50ish recruit from last year?
Cooper was blocked by 3 wings with experience, 2 of which ended up being our best players. It sucks but is what it is. Pathway to minutes should be easier for Dayton.

If his pathway to minutes is easier, it is a massive recruiting failure.

Haha did he really? I know Lusk has used his favorite word (elite) to describe him. Of course, he thinks about 15 guys on our roster are elite lol.
I've only seen Dayton play one time and it was in the state tournament this month. I never thought to myself one time that he reminded me of Steph Curry. Steph is constantly moving, plays with high energy, and has deep range. In the game I watched, Dayton was very cerebral, spaced the floor nicely, and would pick his spots to drive. He always seemed to make the correct pass but didn't take many deep shots. In warm-ups, he showed good range and nice form. He did take an alley oop in the game and slammed it with two hands. Didn't think he had great side to side quickness, so I wonder how his defense will translate to college. Really hard to judge since he wasn't playing against any D1 caliber players. To me he is Trey Phipps with more hops, better court vision and passing ability, and similar limitations on defense. But again, that was just one game. I also saw Stevie Clark several years ago in the state tournament. He was way closer to Steph than Dayton would be, I think.
