Possible transfers

Don’t take that as where I think he’ll go, was just saying the last school on the list was Washington state.

Personally think Portland has a good shot. Believe he’s got connections there at the program. I’m not sure he or his brother want to leave the NW either.

Hope to be wrong on this one though.

Yeah definitely a connection.

Portland, who has been miserably bad at basketball, fired Terry Porter in February (another NBA star that couldn’t coach a lick) and hired his coach from Eastern Washington last month.

Hopefully the state of the program trumps the relationship as that will be tough to overcome.

Bishop isn’t coming. KU, UNC, and Texas are his top 3 via his Instagram. He announces Saturday.

It’s freaking insane that OU can’t win a recruiting battle against Texas. Why? We are the better program.

The fact that we aren’t even in his final 3 makes me think he wasn’t the potential transfer from earlier this week.

Don’t want to sound rude, but have you put your head in the sand the last 2 weeks with Texas?

Let’s see if I can give a few hints: they hired Howard from KU. Howard is the assistants that are implicated in the FBI wiretaps.

They have 5 assistant coaches, when the NCAA permits 3. 1 is called special assistant to the head coach to get around the rule.

Reality is, they are “investing” in basketball, similar to football

No offense taken. I'm not really that obsessed with them other than I like beating them. And I don't really study them like others I guess. I know they're building a new arena which can't hurt. I also know overall OU is a better program, and that was my original point. It seems they have gotten higher level recruits than OU before all these recent happenings. But I guess you're saying they are really pulling out all the stops, in some cases skirting the rules, and putting more into their program than OU is. Thanks for the 411. I really wasn't aware of some of that.

Well, this isn’t going as I’d hoped it would. It’s like a poopy flavored lollipop. Gross.

This is exactly the sort of madness i feared when Kruger first announced his retirement. I could see then, given the state of college hoops, how things could go quickly downhill. I felt better once we got to know Coach Moser a little bit and I'm not panicking now, but sheesh, what a freaking roller coaster we're on these past couple of weeks.

As for how texas is doing it, they're probably doing it the way I've long suspected Beard did things at Tech -- underhanded and under the table.

A nice guy like Kruger would get eaten alive in this transfer portal era.

He brought in Harkless and Gibson a year ago. Who knows who he had his eye on for this offseason (and we'd very likely be losing fewer players if he'd stayed).

How is “special assistant to the head coach” not an assistant coach

So with the new transfer rule, do kids now essentially get TWO free transfers? One they can use any time, then I assume the Graduate Transfer rule still exists as well?

Insanity. Between the addition of the Portal (making it easier to transfer), and now the new transfer rule, I really don't see it slowing down much. Hopefully it truly is capped at ONE free transfer, but I fear the Grad Transfer rule still being in place will essentially make it two free ones.

The pessimist in me says we’re going to strike out on any impact transfers. It’s frustrating to see other teams reeling in transfers and we’re not.

Is there a timeline for the eastern Washington kid to make a decision? Is his brother coming with him? What about the creighton post player? Are we in on any others?

Any updates today?

We didn’t make the creighton post player’s final 3. Makes me think he was not the possible transfer commit from earlier this week.

The longer we go without Krutwig, the more unlikely he becomes I would think.

And I think the Groves brothers (or the one) is probably unlikely, just given the distance and his connections with other schools out West.

I don't think we'll completely strike-out on the transfer market either, but man, it's tough to be excited about the prospects of next season currently.

They made up a position to bring him in. Reality is, they can’t go on recruiting trips or interact with recruits.

Here’s the kicker though, if their kids are on an AAU team, then they are permitted to attend, and so if they happen to bump into recruits while watching their kids, they move into the grey area, which is what Texas will do a ton of.

Made the final 3 for Goldwire (Duke transfer)

Good stuff, Matthew!

Idk much about this guy. 3* from Georgia. Played a lot last 2 years and made all acc defense. Looks like a pass first, defensive minded player. Shooting looks prettt bad if I’m honest.
