Anyone heard any updates on his possible transfer back home to OU?

Poster on Rivals said it's not 100% done but very close. I asked for a source and waiting to see what he says

As a walk on hopefully?

Yeah a rebounding machine who led the Zags in rebounds per minutes played and had a monster game against WVA and whose fans are begging him
to stay on the Zags board should be a walk on...

Dahl,

Great news. Spangler would be a quality get and would give OU three years of rebounding and hustle. Make it happen, Lon.

I'm with Bigtime. I think with a redshirt season and giving us 3 years afterwards, he will definitely be a contributor to this squad.

Spoiled fn fans, because our program is soo amazing right now, has been for the last 3 years that we should be getting wayy better players..right. Big time recruits want to sign with a program who has been getting great on the court results recently, not years ago. That's just the way it is. I wouldn't complain one bit about getting a guy that Gonzaga really doesn't want to lose, whose program is 10x what our program is right now. A guy who has experience playing in the NCAA tourney and actually contributed quite well, can anybody on our current roster say that??

Excellent points, rick!

I'm already on record in saying that OU could do worse than Ryan Spangler. There's a lot to like about his game, not to mention the fact that he would sit out a year to mature and get better, and still have three years of eligibility left.

Being a local, and having a 3.83 gpa in high school, he could probably get a full ride academic scholarship.

That gets him in without putting OU over the limit, then later, if it's better for him we can put him on an athletic schollie.

good points, rick and ada. said before that Spangler would be a good addition and with a year redshirting working on his game, he can be a soild contributer for three years. the kid is pretty athletic at 6'7-6'8 230 and love to hit the boards and a pretty big body. Kruger wants competitors and physicality and it sounds ike Spangler is that, and he's not w/out offensive skills...and would work on that aspect of his game as well in the redhsirt season.
I like what all I've read about his game and is of good character and good student. I hope he will be soon be a Sooner. Him and maybe Coleman would be very nice to finish the class, but not counting on Coleman.

10X might be a bit of stretch.

It might not be if you look at the programs right now, we are on probation and have had 3 straight losing seasons and only 2 NCAA Tourney appearances in the last 6 years. They are at least 5 times better right now.

Lol @Gonzaga being 5-10X OU in basketball. Please. They are a mid major with a single elite 8 ever back in 1999. OU has been to 3 Elite 8s since then.

As for Spangler, he's not Big XII caliber talent. Wasn't out of high school which is why there were no Big XII offers and still isn't. There is even talk of redshirting him at Gonzaga which is probably why he wants to transfer after only playing in blowouts.
